Gar Housler, 75, died on March 29, 2022 due to complications of congestive heart failure. Born in Flushing, New York, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Jayne M. Housler.

Gar graduated from Smithtown Central High School. In 1965 he joined the Navy, and served in Vietnam, both aboard ship and on land. He married the love of his life, Pam Lemanczyk on April 10, 1970 in Northlake, IL. and moved to Norfolk later that year. Gar retired for medical reasons in 1971, he had a varied career throughout his life, he worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, started his own business Housler Data Services, and finished his career as a construction superintendent for Construction Solutions.

Gar joined the Catholic Church in 1977 and served in various ministries, especially at Sacred Heart Catholic for over 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 367.

Gar is survived by his wife, Pam, sons, Brian and his wife Angela and Mark and his wife Kara. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Joshua, Kaylee, Grace, Jonah, Faith and Olivia, two sisters, Diane Meder and Karen Kelley as well as three nieces and a nephew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 520 Graydon Ave., Norfolk 23507 on Tuesday April 5, 2022 at 11:00a.m. followed by a reception in the Commons.
