JOHN FRANCIS PARKER

 

90 of Falmouth died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Woodmont Center in Stafford.
John was born Jan, 16, 1920, on a snowy morning in Roanoke. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a part of the 32nd "Red Arrow" Infantry Division, and he received the Bronze Star for his service in Buna, New Guinea.
Mr. Parker was an industrial engineer, working in the defense industry in the production of airplanes, then ships, in San Diego and San Francisco, Calif, and Pascagoula, Miss. He retired from NAVSEA in 1987.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Jean; his daughter, Linda Noble; a granddaughter, Kaitlin McCallum; great-grandchildren Hannah and Daniel McCallum; step-sons Joseph Tucker, and Thomas Tucker and his wife, Deb; a stepgrandson, Neil; a brother, Francis Timothy Parker; and a sister, Eileen Block.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Korpi officiating. Interment in Quantico National Cemetery.
John was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
