Michael "Mike" Nigl, age 50, of Richland Center died Saturday, September 27, 2014 at home. Mike was born on August 17, 1964 in Richland Center the son of Rudy & Jeanne (Katalenich) Nigl. After graduating from Richland Center High School in 1982, he attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO graduating with a BA in Aeronautical Engineering in 1986. While stationed at Williams AFB, Mesa, AZ he met and he married Mary Jo Siciliani on March 10, 1990. He served in the United States Air Force during Operation Desert Calm, Operation Allied Force, Operation Southern Watch and the Kosovo Conflict. He was also stationed in Maine, Texas, and North Dakota. After separating from the military in 2000 as a Major, he settled back in his hometown, flew for United Airlines and owned and operated Nigl's Fine Furniture and Millwork. He was active in the community serving on the Richland District School Board, and President of Richland County Republican Party. Because of his love of trees and wood, he became a board member of Bad Axe Woodland Owners Association and a member of the National Walnut Council. In his spare time he loved attending any sports or programs his children were in, hunting, and being out at the family farm. He always enjoyed discussing politics and his love of flying.
Survivors include his wife Mary Jo Nigl of Richland Center; 4 children Mariah Nigl of Milwaukee, Mikayla Nigl of Madison, McKenna Nigl and Michael "Mac" Nigl both of Richland Center; his parents Rudy and Jeanne Nigl of Richland Center; brothers and sister Rudy (Cherie) Nigl of Stoddard, WI, Jeff (Pam) Nigl of Richland Center, Teresa Evans (fiancé Patrick Kash) of Merrimac, WI, Patrick (Lora) Nigl of Beavercreek, Ohio; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his nephew Nicholas Patrick Nigl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Richland Center with Fr. Robert Letona officiating. The Local Military's Honors Unit will provide graveside rites in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home from 4 PM to 8 PM where the Knights of Columbus will have a Rosary Service at 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be held at church from 10 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to G.R.A.C.E. or the Richland Hospital Kramer Center. |
