David “Dave†Bender, 73, of Tangent died Wednesday at his home.
Born in Albany, the son of Richard and Madeline (Karpenski) Bender, Dave has been a lifelong Albany area resident.
He married Judy Ann Henderson on Oct. 5, 1959, in Albany.
Dave was a farm implement manager in a career spanning 50 years, first with Herrold & Jensen, and then from 1984 until his retirement in 2003 with Fisher Implement. Dave was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Eagles Club and on the board of directors for Willamette Memorial Park and Linn County FFA. He enjoyed his family, his garden, had an extensive collection of toy tractors, and was a big Mariners fan.
Surviving are Dave’s wife, Judy, of Tangent; children and spouses Kim and Rob Nichols of Albany, Kate and Randy Hall of Sweet Home, and David Anthony “Tony†Jr. and Cammie Bender of Lebanon; grandchildren Jenna and Shelby Nichols of Albany, McKenzie and Isaac Villarreal, Nicole Bender, and great-granddaughter McKenna Villarreal, all of Lebanon; and sisters Barbara Keeney of Eugene and Judy Bender-Bachman of Springfield.
Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and a memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albany. Private inurnment will be at Willamette Memorial Park Mausoleum.
