Marion Vincent “Bud†Hayden age 89, beloved husband and father, died peacefully in his home on August 31, 2018 surrounded by his family. Bud, the youngest of eight children, was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on April 4, 1929 to Martha (DeChamp) and Sidney Joseph Hayden. Proceeded into this world by his siblings, Sidney, William, Virginia, Elizabeth, Beverly, Joseph, and James. He attended catholic school in Kentucky and in later years graduated from the University of Houston in 1958 with a degree in Business Administration. During his time in the United States Air Force, stationed at Ellington Air Force base, a chance meeting with Marjorie Jane West of Galveston resulted in their marriage on October 11, 1952. From that day forward, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. Bud’s Catholic faith was his guiding light. He became a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, achieving the 4th degree Knight, council 4577. He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. After retiring and relocating to Pearland, Texas, Bud worshiped at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel, TX. Family and friends recognized him as a man that continually gave time to his community.
He owned and operated Hayden’s Insurance Agency serving Houston for more than 35 years. His honesty and integrity were legendary amongst clients and his peers. His love and passion for basketball; playing for the United States Air Force Military and University of Houston, drove him to volunteer as coach and mentor to young athletes. Bud continually gave his time as University of Houston basketball alumni.
We will remember our Daddy as a man of high integrity and character, who taught us many lifelong lessons. He never raised his voice, yet used our kitchen table to connect and teach with a beautiful, tough and loving hand. His love for his wife of 65 years will always be a shining example for those who knew him.
Bud leaves behind his beloved wife, Margie Hayden and their 5 children and spouses Kathryn and Gary Kimmons, Steve and Angela Hayden, Nan and Randy Marchello, Renee’ and Cliff Ethridge and youngest daughter Lori Hayden. He was blessed with grandchildren Lance Kimmons, Lauren (Jaime) Marquez, Michelle (Josh) Jolin, Chelsy Ethridge, Leslie Ethridge, Ashley Hayden and Mackenzie Marchello, in addition to three great grandchildren Olivia and Hayden Marquez and Jack Jolin.
Family will receive friends at 5:00 pm. Friday September 7, 2018 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023. Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 am. officiated by Fr. Thomas V. Poncini, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 6502 County Rd 48, Manvel, TX. 77578. Graveside service will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, with Reception afterwards. |
