VINCENT JOSEPH CAMPO, 82, of Pearland, Texas died peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born to Salvatore and Marie Vetrano Campo on December 21, 1925, in Houston. A Milby H.S. Graduate , he spent his 19th birthday in France in WWII serving in the 42nd Rainbow Division, 222nd Infantry, Company B. He was the second generation owner of Campo Sheet Metal Works until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of the Houston Sheet Metal Contractors Association, the Knights of Columbus Council 3077 & charter member of: St. Mary's LaPorte Council 5232, where he served as Grand Knight, St. Paul's Clear Lake Council 6234, & Pearland Council 8960. He purchased the first lot on Taylor Lake in Seabrook where he later lived for 26 years. The meeting to incorporate and name the city of Taylor Lake Village was held in his home, and he served as alderman and deputy marshal. After being flooded four times due to hurricanes, he moved to Pearland in 1984. He is survived by his wife, Anna Borski Campo of 50 years of marriage, children Ann Marie & Dan Girardot of Austin & their children, Michael, Marie, & Michelle; Sammy & Lisa Benham Campo, & their children, Joseph, Patrick, Elizabeth, & Stephen of Pearland; Mary Jo Campo of Buda, Charlie Campo of Pearland, Katherine & James Williams of Beaumont, John & Heather Campo & son Luke also of Pearland. He is also survived by three sisters, Frances Passmore Bailey of Corpus Christi, Rose Ulrich of Bellville, and Virginia Freitag and her husband, Gilbert, of Houston; and brothers-in-law Larry Klinger of Montrose, Co., Jerome Borski and wife Carol of Tomball, Rev. Charles Borski, OMI of Alvin, & David Borski of Houston. Visitation will take place at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Pearland at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 10th, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 11th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity or food pantry. |
