William “Bill†Staranowicz, age 86. Bill was raised in North Chicago, and was a long time resident of Wildwood. Served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Son of the late Adolph and Gertrude (Wilson) Staranowicz. Beloved husband of the late Barbara. Loving dad of Carrie (Mike) Boesch, Bill (Marta), Susie, Chris (Sue), and Luanne (Jim) Geiyer. Dear grandpa of Katie, Barbie, Laura, Marisa, Valeria, Sage, Sophie, Rebecca, Morgan, and Jimi. Great-grandpa of Brayden, Carter, and Dylan. Brother of Mary Woods of Sterling, VA, and the late George. In 1951, Bill was the starting catcher for the State Champion Loras Academy Baseball Team in Dubuque, Iowa. An avid sports fan – he was better known by his nickname ‘Notre Dame Bill’. He also was a huge Chicago Cubs fan – and ecstatic when they won the World Series in 2016. Bill worked at US Steel for 25 years, and at Quonset Pizza, for 18 years. |
