GREGORY GEORGE WESTBROOK

 

Gregory George Westbrook, 62, of Kenilworth, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Manorcare Rehabilitation Center in Mountainside.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Theresa R. C. Church in Kenilworth, on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10am, following the funeral from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, at 8:30am. Interment is at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth. Visitation is on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
Gregory was born in Morristown and moved to Kenilworth many years ago.
He was a customer service representative for Merck Pharmaceutical in Branchburg.
He was a lifelong Giants, Mets, and Rangers fan. He was often seen in the bleachers at David Brearley High School Cheering for the Bears.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Garwood. He also served as past grand knight at the Father McVeigh Council 4186 Knights of Columbus, as well as district deputy.
An active volunteer for many years, he was honored as “Citizen of the Year” in Kenilworth by the late Congressman Bob Franks, recognizing his community service. He served on the Kenilworth Planning Board for 10 years. He taught CCD at St. Theresa R. C. Church in Kenilworth, and played Santa Claus for many years at the annual holiday tree lighting in his hometown of Kenilworth.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years Diane Westbrook (Penn); a daughter Jennifer Haley, and her husband Dennis, of Hillsborough; a son Joseph Penn, and his wife, Joanna (Netta); a granddaughter Julia, of Roselle Park; a son, Joseph Westbrook; a brother, Thomas Westbrook, and his wife, Mary, of Sussex, and two sisters, Lucille Ortwein, of Mendham, and Janice Strowbridge, of Morristown.
He is predeceased by his parents, Jeanette and Francis Westbrook, and a brother Francis Westbrook, Jr.
