He was born May 19, 1912 in North Chicago, IL., to Herman and Elizabeth (nee Fincutter) Kristan and died Wednesday February 18, 2009 at St. Jospeh’s Home, Kenosha, WI. Joe graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1930 and Walton School of Commerce, Chicago in 1931. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in North Chicago from 1937-1967. He later worked for the Building and Zoning Department for Lake County and was a member of the Lake County Zoning Board of Appeals for many years.Joe was a resident of North Chicago, IL., Nalcrest, FL., Branson, MO., and returned to Lake County in 2000. He was a veteran of WW II as a member of the U.S. Navy. Joe was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 731 in Waukegan where he served as Grand Knight in 1958-1959 and Navigator of the 4th Degree of Bishop Quarter General Assembly, Knights of Columbus of Lake County in 1957-1958. He was a member of the American Legion Sharvin Post #397 in North Chicago, IL., a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Waukegan Council # 409 and a charter member of the Navy Mail Service Veterans Association. |
