MICHAEL LAYMAN

 

Layman, Michael A., 68, of Louisville, passed away, Friday, January 13, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

He was a native of Louisville, son of the late Ivan and Mary Helen Blunt Layman. He was a graduate of Trinity High School and then served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lt. After serving in the Army he earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of Louisville.

Michael was a project manager with the Army Corps of Engineers. We was an avid U of L sports fan, loved to play golf, write music and play the guitar. He was a former Deacon at St. Albert the Great, active in Metro Corrections Jail Ministry, and a Deacon of the Society of St. Vincent dePaul.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Pat Layman; and a granddaughter, Julia Palazzo.

He is survived by his loving wife, the former Mary Flaherty; three daughters, Michelle Palazzo (Dave), Shannon Jenkins (Chris), Carla Layman; a son, Daniel Selter; brother, Steve Layman; sister-in-law, Sally Layman; and six grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, Our Lady of Lourdes, 508 Breckenridge Lane with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road "in St. Matthews".
