Virginia Beach - LCDR Robert Roy Vesseliza, Sr., USN (Ret.), 86, passed away April 19, 2015. He was born in Shamokin, PA, and was the son of the late Joseph and Theresa Vesseliza.
Robert was a member of the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek (JEBLC) Chapel, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 92. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa Marie Vesseliza; sons, Robert Vesseliza, Jr. and his wife Velma and their children Lauren and Emily Vesseliza of Garden Ridge, TX, and Ronald Vesseliza and his wife Annette and their children Aaron and Julianne of Pawling, NY; sisters, Audrey Vitacco of Wrightsville, PA and Arlene Padelsky of Minersville, PA; brother William Vesseliza of Lehigh Acres, FL; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at the JEBLC Chapel. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend the service on Friday without military identification must contact the funeral home at 464-6221 by Thursday to provide information in order to gain access to the Base.
