Our Brother Erv Koch was Born to Eternal Life on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the age of 80. An exemplary Catholic gentleman and an active Knight since 1984, Erv was a supporting member of two churches, St. Mary's Lake Church and St. Francis Borgia. Erv was a 1956 graduate from Riverside H.S. In 1958, he married the love of his life Sharon. Their hard work ethic allowed them to build a family business, Hopkins Cleaners. They raised their five children in a family-built home in Brown Deer. Later moving to Cedar Grove, Erv and Sharon spent much time planting and maintaining their park-like yard and gardens. Erv loved to travel. His favorite destinations included Medjugorje, Israel, Italy, Hawaii and Colorado. Erv exemplified what a Christian man should be, and was considered by many outside of his immediate family to be a father figure. This made him a perfect fit for pursuing his passion, being a sidewalk counselor at area clinics, where he advocated and offered hope to the pre-born. Erv also sponsored a boy named Jonathan through Unbound.org. Erv started and coordinated SFB's ongoing bread ministry, picking up bakery at stores and delivering it to inner city charities in Milwaukee. Erv was an active member in the Padre Pio Prayer Group, That Man Is You men's ministry and the SFB coat and clothing ministry. Erv proudly participated in the SFB adult choir for over 20 years. |
