I am President of Deer Park Toastmasters Club 6859 and we are welcoming guests and new members.
We are a community based public speaking club under the Toastmasters International banner.
We provide a supporting learning and skill enhancing environment to practice public speaking in front of a live supporting audience of like minded individuals who are there to improve their skills in speech communication, thinking on the spot, building on leadership skills, and boost self confidence all round.
We meet at the Yonge - St Clair area at the Deer Park Public Library 40 St Clair Ave East. We meet in person Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 8:00 pm, 3x per month and have a virtual meet once per month.
I have personally benefitted greatly professionally, both in leadership experience and building self confidence in public speaking and thinking on the spot over the past 10 years. Public speaking is a top 10 fear of many adults on par with fear of heights, spiders, snakes and health ailments. I chose to confront and embrace this fear instead of avoiding it by becoming a Toastmaster.
Toastmasters also gives you a vast ecosystem in the GTA to network with other like minded professionals and those just wanting to socialize and express themselves. They also have a structured certificate education system to guide you on your learning path called Pathways.
