COUNCIL INFORMATION
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Founded in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, Assistant Pastor of St. Mary’s Church, in New Haven CT. His purpose was to help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith, promote closer ties of fraternity and establish a system whereby members and their families could be sustained in time of need. Today, the Knights of Columbus has blossomed into an international society of more than 1.8 million men, raising more than $175 Million annually and contributing more than 73 million hours of parish, charitable and community service.
ABOUT DARDENNE COUNCIL 2273
Established in 1921, the Dardenne Knights formed in answer to the call from the Immaculate Conception Parish pastor to build an elementary school. Raising funds, 2273 led the way to create a parochial education opportunity at ICD. Today, with more than 400 members, Council 2273 practices those same degrees of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism through its fundraising efforts and volunteer service throughout the Dardenne Prairie community. Our most recent year generated more than 11,500 hours of volunteer services and nearly $30,000 in gifts.
