The Divine Word Council supports the Knights of Columbus campaign SHAMROCKS FOR KIDS for Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. They had a table at the St. Norbert's St Patrick dinner dance on Friday evening, March 11th. Bob McClauchlin, Chapter Representative was assisted by Mark and Elaine Kollar and many other Knights in selling shamrock pins at the event. It was very successful.
Members of the Divine Word Council Knights of Columbus attended the annual appreciation reception for St. Joseph Seminary College held on Sunday December 4th at the Cardinal's Residence in Chicago. Present with Steve Schnettler, Mike Furby and Mark Kollar, all from St. Norbert Parish and also John Kiener from Sacred Heart Parish in Winnetka. The local KC Council started the Monsignor Robert Hagarty Seminarian Fund in 1983 to honor Monsignor Hagarty who was pastor of St. Norbert at the time. In 1984 he passed away from pancreatic cancer. Since 1983 this fund has given over $65,000 to support seminarians studying in the seminary college program for the Archdiocese of Chicago."
On Sunday April 23th, the Divine Word Knights were instrumental in bringing the DIVINE MERCY Icon to St. Norbert Parish in Northbrook, Illinois. That afternoon at 3:00 the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy was recited outside in front of the church. There were about 50 parishioners and Knights attending. An honor guard of three 4th degree Knights were present along with the Associate Pastor of St. Norbert - Father Dan Folwaczny and Liturgical Director Michael Ward.
