GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE JUNE 2026

My Fellow Brother Knights,

Convention Highlights

From Thursday, May 14th, through Sunday, May 17th, my wife and I had the honor of attending the 2026 State Convention in Visalia. We were joined by our worthy Deputy Grand Knight, Richmond Zapp, and his wife. During the convention, delegates elected the State Officers for the next Columbian Year, and I am proud to share that our very own PGK Alex Castanon was elected State Warden. Congratulations, Alex!

Our Council also received statewide recognition, earning 2nd place in California for our newsletter and 1st place for our Council website. Much of the credit for these achievements goes to Brother Pete Mallari. Well done, Brother Pete!

Parish Events

On Saturday, May 30th, and Sunday, May 31st, our council was honored to host the exposition and veneration of a 1st-class relic of Blessed Father Michael McGivney at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Beaumont. The relic was available for veneration during the following Masses:

  • Saturday: 4:30 English Mass and 6:00 Spanish Mass
  • Sunday: 8:00 English Mass, 9:45 English Mass, 11:30 Spanish Mass, and 4:30 English Mass

On Friday, June 12th, St. Kateri Tekakwitha will celebrate the Consecration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at both parish sites: in Beaumont (English at 6:00 p.m.) and in Banning (Spanish at 6:00 p.m.). Our council has partnered with the Catholic Daughters to provide Enthronement Certificates for presentation to families at both locations.

On Sunday, June 14th, we will gather in the Beaumont parish hall to thank Father Maurice for his three years of service at St. Kateri and to wish him well on his next assignment in Crestline.

Meeting Update

Our June General Meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 9th, due to the statewide general election on Tuesday, June 2nd. The Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting will start at 7:00 p.m.

PASS CHAPTER PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE JUNE 2026

Worthy Brothers of Council 5392,

Election to State Warden
I am honored to share that, after more than two years of preparation and with your continued prayers and support, I was elected California State Warden at this year’s State Convention.
The nomination began with an inspiring speech from our Council Brother and Past State Deputy, Ivan Reek. The motion was seconded by Grand Knight Scott Benson, Assembly Faithful Captain Dennis McCarty, and a fellow Brother from Northern California. Hearing my name called was a moment of great pride, and I am committed to serving Brother Knights across California to the best of my ability during my term as a State Officer.
State Council Update
The State Council has already begun its work at a strong pace. We recently held a three-day planning meeting in Chatsworth to review our responsibilities and discuss how we will partner with councils and District Deputies to better serve our communities. State Deputy-elect Vladimir Rivera and the State Officers are prepared to lead our Order in Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Council Activities This Month
Our Council also remained very active this month. Highlights included:

  • Blood drive
  • Hispanic Breakfast
  • Memorial Day Mass at Desert Lawn Cemetery
  • Annual Bishop’s Dinner in Palm Desert
  • Hosting the Blessed Michael McGivney relic

Congratulations to everyone for your hard work and for showing what it means to be a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

Vivat Jesus,
Alex Castanon
State Warden Elect
