2025 Nativity Scene Setup

2025 Star Council Award

November 2025 - Grand Knight Andy Mosko accepts Supreme's Star Council Award from District Deputy Kevin Kozinski.  The award reflects San Salvador Council's service and recruiting achievements for the year.

Honor Flight Support

November 2025 - The $1,200 in tips we earned from our Ozaukee County Fair Hamburger Stand in August were donated to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.

Habitat for Humanity Support

November 2025 - San Salvador Council continues its annual support of Ozaukee Habitat for Humanity with a $1,000 check presentation by Grand Knight Andy Mosko. 

2025 Coats for Kids

November 2025 - With generous SFB parishioners donated over $6,000 to our Coats for Kids Drive, we were able to purchase 432 brand-new winter coats for pregnancy help centers, immigrant families at St. Michael Parish, and to homeless shelters.  Pictured is Sister Alice from St. Michaels.

November 2025 - Charis/Vida Pregnancy Help Center with coats donated by San Salvador Council.  The Council distributed coats to 8 different pregnancy help centers in the area.

Life Chain 2025

October 2025 - Council Respect Life Chair Couple John and Char Herbert hosted the 2025 Cedarburg Life Chain event, with San Salvador families and others joining in witness to the Sanctity of Life.

October 2025 - San Salvador Knights hosted a luncheon for parishioners following a St. Francis Borgia Feast Day procession after the 10am Mass.  Great food and fellowship!

Pizza With Padres 2025

June 2025 - Our annual Pizza WIth Padres picnic was well attended, as we bid farewell to associate pastor Fr. Matthew Ferch, who was reassigned.  We are grateful to Fr. Matthew for his loyal support of the Council.  To honor him, he was presented a engraved 4th Degree KC sword!

March 2025 - With help from San Salvador Council, Fr. Tim Schumaker was able to launch a brand new Knights of Columbus Council at St. Joseph Parish with 30 new and transfer knights.  Pictured are newly exemplified knights with Fr. Tim at St. Joe's.  

SFB Renovations

Help Habitat for Humanity

2024 Columbian Award Honors

November 11, 2024 - Recognizing the many and varied service programs run by the San Salvador Council during the 2023/2024 fraternal year, the Knights of Columbus Supreme Office honored the Council with the Columbian Award.  The Council was also presented with the Founder's Award, recognizing our efforts in promoting the Order's insurance program to ensure the financial well-being of KC families.  Pictured is Grand Knight Andrew Mosko, Past Grand Knight Roger Knepprath, and our District Deputy Kevin Kozinski.

Support for Special Olympics

November 11, 2024 - Today, Grand Knight Andy Mosko presented checks totaling over $4,000 to benefit organizations that assist those with intellectual disabilities.  Funds were raised at our annual Tootsie Roll Drive earlier this year. November 3, 2024 - Our Council served its annual stint ushering at Holy Hill.  Thanks to all who came out to help!

Coats for Kids Drive 2024

October 27, 2024 - Today, our Council wrapped up its annual Coats for Kids Drive.  Generous parishioners donated over $9,000, enabling us to purchase 732 coats from our national Coats for Kids program office.  Coats are being distributed to 7 pregnancy centers, to immigrant/refugee families at St. Michael Parish, and others.  Pictured are Knights with Beth Schumaker from the Women's Support Center receiving 6 cases (72 coats) for their clients.  

Feast Day Cookout

October 13, 2024 - Today, the parish celebrated St. Francis Borgia's Feast Day with a procession followed by a luncheon hosted by the San Salvador Council.

Life Chain 2024

October 6, 2024 - Knights families turned out again for the annual National Life Chain event in Cedarburg.  About 25 pro-lifers met on Washington Avenue in Cedarburg to witness to the Sanctity of Life, with many "thumbs up" from passersby.  

Stuff The Crib Drive

September 14, 2024 - The Women's Support Center asked our Council to help staff their “Stuff the Crib” drive for baby items at the Mequon Piggly Wiggly.  Knights greeted customers entering store and passed out slips inviting them to buy baby items (diapers, lotion, wipes, etc) in the store and drop them in the collection crib as they exited.  An extremely well received and successful effort! Celebrating Life at the Parade

July 4, 2024 - Thanks to Brother John and Char Herbert for organizing the annual Pro-Life Wisconsin entry in the Cedarburg 4th of July Parade to proclaim the Sanctity of Life to our community.  Thousands lined the streets of Cedarburg for the parade, as always, and over 25 pro-lifers, including San Salvador Council families, marched with uplifting pro-life messages and handed out Life Saver candy and KC Tootsie Rolls.  Our entry had an overwhelmingly positive response from many from the crown cheering life as we passed by.

Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Champion Shrine

June 29, 2024 - Brothers Dave Schoofs and Dave Breidenbach organized a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Champion Shrine, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.  Over 50 pilgrims made the bus trip to the only Church-approved apparition site in North America in Champion, WI.  Fr. Matthew Ferch and Deacon Brady Gagne joined in with parishioners from SFB, St. Joseph and Holy Trinity, for a healing Mass, lunch, and a day of recollection and devotion.

June 18, 2024 - Knights enjoyed an evening with our parish priests at the SFB rectory at our annual Pizza with Padres event.

KC Corpus Christi Cookout

June 2, 2024 - Following today's Eucharistic Procession, the Knights of Columbus hosted a luncheon in the SFB parish hall for parish familiies.

June 2, 2024 - Fr. Patrick continued the SFB traditional Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession today around the parish and school grounds with over 100 taking part.  Knights assisted with several aspects of the procession.

Tootsie Roll Drive

May 5, 2024 - Our Council continued its decades-long commitment to the Knights of Columbus Annual Tootsie Roll Fundraiser for those with Intellectual Disabilities.  We held drives at St. Francis Borgia Parish, St. Joseph Parish, Piggly Wiggly, and Pic 'N Save, collecting over $5,400 for Special Olympics and Portal Industries.

2024 Clergy Night

April 16, 2024 - Tonight, 150 guests came out to honor the priests and deacons of St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph parishes at our annual Clergy Night Banquet at The Nines in Mequon.  Additional honorees included our help-out priests and seminarians our Council supports with scholarships through the Knights of Columbus RSVP Program.  Our keynote speaker was Josh Mercer of CatholicVote.  The Council gave out over $7,000 in gifts to support Catholic education at our parishes and as scholarships to our seminarians. Men of Christ Conference

March 9, 2024 - The 18th Annual Men of Christ Conference was today!, The day kicked off with the Rosary at 7am at SFB North, followed by Mass at 7:30am, then the conference at the SFB School Gym from 8:15-1:00.  Brother Jim Michaletz and the Men of Christ Leadership Team put on another great conference.  His brother knights led the Rosary, manned the KC/welcome table, and directed men to open confessionals for the satellite site at SFB North. 

Life Savers for Life Drive

January 21, 2024 - San Salvador Council Knights raised just over $3,000 for the Women's Care Center and the Women's Support Center in Milwaukee with our Life Savers for Life Drive this weekend. Thanks so much to all the generous parishioners at SFB and St. Joseph that contributed!  With your help, we're able to ensure our pregnancy help centers are well-funded and have the resources needed to help new moms choose life for their babies!  

 

SFB Rectory Renovation

January 13, 2024 - San Salvador Knights assisted with the SFB rectory renovation over two Saturdays. First, knights moved out furniture, tore out the old carpeting, and prepped the floor for professional installers.  After new flooring was installed, we moved the furniture back in and helped get our priests settled back in.  

Holy Family Consecration

December 31, 2023 - For the 6th consecutive year, KC Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns led St. Francis Borgia parishioners in a prayer of Consecration to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph at all Masses on this Holy Family Sunday.  The Consecration, promoted worldwide by the Knights of Columbus, is a way for families to surrender everything to the care and providence of the Holy Family.  The Consecration is a much needed act of trust and love in these difficult and trying times for so many.

Christmas Poster Contest

December 31, 2023 - Kids from SFB & St. Joe's schools and parishes were invited to show "The True Meaning of Christmas" by participating in our annual Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest.  Cash prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.  Among the many impressive posters was this one pictured from "Sara" at St. Joe's School.

Keeping Christ in Christmas

December 2, 2023 - San Salvador Knights are spreading the message of the true meaning of Christmas. Knights erected the Nativity Scene at SFB-South, set up a 4x8 “Keep Christ in Christmas” banner on Washintion Ave., and are promoting a “True Meaning of Christmas” poster contest for kids at St. Joe and SFB. Thanks to all who helped with these activities!

Coats for Kids Drive 2023

October 27, 2023 - October is Respect Life Month and the San Salvador Council held its annual Coats for Kids Drive at St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph.  Generous parishioners donated just over $9,000, which purchased a record 696 brand-new winter coats from the national Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids Program!  Cases of coats were delivered to Milwaukee by San Salvador Council Knights for immigrant/refugee families at St. Michael Parish, inner-city students at St. Anthony School, young mothers at the Women's Care Center & Women's Support Center, and needy individuals at the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary & House of Peace.  Pictured is Brother Knight Owen McCormick, with Fr. Star Council Award

October 9, 2023 - For the 4th year in a row, San Salvador Knights were recognized for earning Star Council status by the international Knights of Columbus office (Supreme).  The award is given for outstanding efforts in service, programming, and council growth.  Pictured is District Deputy Tim Bailey presenting the Star Council plaque to Grand Knight Roger Knepprath at our October Council meeting at St. Francis Borgia South.

Life Chain 2023

October 1, 2023 - Brother John & Char Herbert once again led the Cedarburg Life Chain event, which takes place nationally every Respect Life Sunday (the 1st Sunday in October).  Over 25 pro-lifers, including 17 KC family members, gave witness to the Sanctity of Life on south Washington Ave to those passing by.  

Honoring the Preborn

September 9, 2023 - We had a great turnout this morning at SFB south for the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, organized by the SFB Respect Life Group.  Over 50 attended, including 16 members of the San Salvador Council who led the rosary at the “Weeping Rachel” statue, which was erected by our council in 2012.

St. Michael Mission Day

August 31, 2023 - Sr. Alice of St. Michael's parish in Milwaukee sent this photo of their Mission Day, a youth event with food, prayer, talks, and fun.  Dozens attended the event, which was made possible by a donation our Council recently made to support the parish's outreach to immigrants and refugees. 

Famous KC Burgers at the Fair

August 2, 2023 - For decades the San Salvador Council Knights have served up the best burgers at the Ozaukee County Fair, with hundreds of repeat customers returning each year to enjoy a delicious meal!  This year's fair ran from August 2-6 and dozens of KCs, friends, and family pulled of another successful fundraiser, breaking previous records.  In addition, our "tip jar" raise over $1,000 for Stars & Stripes Honor Flight.  Thanks to all who made this possible.

Pro Life Witness in Parade

July 4, 2023 - Today, San Salvador Council families joined with Pro-Life Wisconsin in the July 4th Parade through downtown Cedarburg, continuing a tradition that has been going on for years thanks to Brother John and Char Herbert who organize the entry.  The reception from the crowd was overwhelmingly positive ... WISONSIN IS A PRO-LIFE STATE!

KCs Honor Dcn Kevin Tanel on His Priestly Ordination

May 7, 2023 - The San Salvador Council has provided financial and moral support for Dcn Kevin Tanel for several years.  Now having completed his studies and formation, Dcn Kevin, will be ordained to the Priesthood on May 20th!  Today, KCs presented a card and a $500 gift to him as he completes his final weekend serving at SFB.

2023 Tootsie Roll Drive

May 6, 2023 - Our month-long Tootsie Roll Drive is under way, with local KCs handing out candy and taking donations at St. Francis Borgia, St. Joseph, Pick 'N Save, and Piggly Wiggly.  San Salvador Council participates in this nationwide effort by all KC Councils to raise funds and awareness for our intellectually disabled brothers and sisters in need.  Locally, net proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics and Portal Industries.  Pictured are Knights Bill Sobie and Jim McIntyre.

St. Joseph Pilgrim Icon

March 8, 2023 - The Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council invited all to participate in veneration of the Pilgrim Icon of St. Joseph on its visit to St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph March 8-22.  The icon travels the nation to promote devotion to St. Joseph as we seek his intercession for courage to stand up and carry out our mission of protecting marriage, defending life, and raising future generations in truth.  Pictured is Grand Knight Roger Knepprath in his 4th degree regalia with the icon.

Annual Clergy Night Banquet

February 7, 2023 - Tonight, we continued our annual tradition of honoring our local Priests, Deacons, and Seminarians at Clergy Night.  Many thanks and congratulations to hosts Andy Mosko and John Charleston (and their wives) for putting on a spectacular event at The Nines in Mequon!  A record 150 people attended our annual event to express gratitude and honor our heroic priests, deacons (and wives), and seminarians.  The venue was wonderful, the food and service was excellent, guest speaker Tom Pipines was very entertaining, conversations were lively, and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.  Thanks to all of you that helped pray our 9-day Rosary Novena for our honorees and those of you signed up for our 102-day Rosary Chain for Deacon Kevin, he was deeply moved.

Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit Returns

February 18, 2023 - After a very impactful showing in 2020, San Salvador Council Knights brought back the Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibit to display at SFB and St. Joseph parishes.  Over 100 miracles were highlighted where Eucharistic Hosts have miraculously turned into visible flesh and blood.  Hundreds of parishioners and others from the area came to see the display and were amazed and edified.  “We are cradle Catholics and we have never heard anything about this before!”  These were the words of one elderly couple the viewed the exhibit.  Imagine being Catholic your whole life and not knowing the amazing truth that JESUS IS TRULY PRESENT IN THE EUCHARIST.  That one comment made all our efforts to bring the exhibit back to our parishes worth it!  Plus, we raised $525 for the Real Presence Association (caretakers of the exhibit) to help them continue spreading their message.  THANKS SO MUCH to all of you that volunteered to make this happen!!   Pictured L-R are Knights John Gallo, Dick Bongard, Terry Retzke, and Dave Breidenbach setting up the exhibit at St. Joe's.

Life Savers for Life

January 22, 2023 - Our annual Life Savers for Life Drives were held at St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph this month.  Generous parishioners enjoyed a Life Saver candy and gave $2,582, which was donated to the Women's Care Center and the Women's Support Center in Milwaukee to support their heroic work helping new moms choose life for their babies!  Pictured L-R are Knights Tom Michalski, Roger Knepprath, and Bill Bannatine at St. Joe's drive.

March for Life Trip to D.C.

January 20, 2023 - The San Salvador Council once again co-sponsored the St. Francis Borgia Respect Life Bus Trip to Washington D.C. with at $1,500 donation.  38 pilgrims made the long journey to participate in the first ever post-Roe March for Life to celebrate life and the overturining of Roe vs Wade last summer.

That Man Is You

December 29, 2023 - Brothers Jon Keepman, Jim Michaletz, and Tom Michalski invited fellow Knights and all men of goodwill to join the That Man Is You men’s program at both St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph Parishes.  The Fall semester just finished, with more that 30 men benefitting from the sessions!  TMIY is an extraordinary program for men to go deeper with their faith by viewing and discussing short video presentations weekly together.  St. Joe’s meets at 6:00am on Tuesdays and SFB meets at 6:00am on Thursdays at the south church. 

Food For Families

December 12, 2022 - Today, our Council approved a total of $1,500 to be donated for our Food For Families Program.  $500 each was sent to Family Sharing of Ozaukee County, Repairers of the Breach in Milwaukee, and St Vincent DePaul Society (pictured with their check).  The worldwide Knights of Columbus Food for Families Program has assisted thousands in need over the decades.  San Salvador Council is honored to be able to do its part in our communities.  

Keep Christ in Christmas

November 26, 2022 - Continuing a decades-long tradition, San Salvador Council Knights set up the Nativity Scene at SFB South today to remind passers-by to Keep Christ in Christmas.  We also put up two large KCIC banners along Washington Ave in Cedarburg and Wisconsin Ave in Grafton.

Coats Delivered to Young Families

November 19, 2022 - The last batch of new winter coats from our super-successfully Coats for Kids Drive were delivered, with 120 going to the Women's Care Center, (pictured) 96 going to Women's Support Center, and 24 going to the Cathedral Center Shelter.  With Roe v Wade behind us and abortions ended in Wisconsin, Knights are working to ensure our pregnancy support centers are well-funded and well-supplied to help young families bring new life into the world!

Women of Christ Support

Coats Delivered to Immigrant Families

October 27, 2022 - Our first shipment of 192 coats has arrived and was delivered to St. Michael Parish in Milwaukee today!  St. Michael has many immigrant families arriving that are new to Wisconsin's bitter cold winters.  With generous donations from parishioners at St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph, San Salvador Council was able to fill the entire current need at St. Michael's.  Pictured are Knights Owen McCormick and Tom Pecus dropping off 16 cases of coats to Fr. Coats for Kids Drive 2022

October 15, 2022 - Knights nationwide work annually hosting Coats for Kids drives.  San Salvador Council KCs kicked of their campaign today at St. Francis Borgia Parish and will continue next weekend at St. Joseph Parish.  With donations collected, the Council can buy new winter coats from the national KC Coats for Kids program for just $20/each.  This year we are working to provide coats for families at St. Michael Parish, which has a vibrant ministry to newly arriving immigrants and refugees from Latin America and Asia.  Pictured L-R are Brothers Andy Mosko, Dave Breidenbach, Jim McIntyre, and John Guiliani collecting donations after SFB's Saturday evening Mass.

Tootsie Roll Drive Checks Delivered

October 14, 2022 - Nearly $4,000 of net proceeds from our 2022 Tootsie Roll Drive were presented recently by Grand Knight Roger Knepprath, pictured right with Carol Steube of Portal Industries in Grafton and left with John Armbruster of Special Olympics of Ozaukee County.  A portion of proceeds also went to the State of Wisconsin Special Olympics fund.  The Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive takes place in the Spring across the country and has been for many decades to raise awareness and funds for our brothers and sisters with intellectual disabilities and their heroic families.

Habitat for Humanity Support

Knights Supporting Our Seminary

October 6, 2023 - Our Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns hosted the 2023 Annual Seminary Dinner in Milwaukee this evening for 2,000 enthusiastic supporters of our seminarians!  St. Francis Borgia Parish brought the more attendees to the event than any other parish in the archdiocese.  Among these were many San Salvador Council couples!

Star Council for 3rd Year in a Row!

Support for Suicide Prevention

September 13, 2022 - Gena Orlando, Wisconsin Director of the National Suicide Prevention Center, spoke at St. Joseph Parish on September 13th.  Knight Tom Michalski presented a $250 donation from the San Salvador Council to support their important work!

           

Day of Remembrance

September 10, 2022 - The St. Francis Borgia Respect Life Group held the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, with 8am Mass with Fr. Patrick and a Rosary led by San Salvador Council Knights at the “Rachel Weeping” statue in front of the south church.  The day honors the over 60 million lives lost to abortion in America since Roe vs Wade and the 40 million lives lost worldwide annually.

Natural Family Planning Week

July 24, 2022 - It's Natural Family Planning Week and our Council helped spread the good news about NFP with a bulletin stuffer and information table at St. Francis Borgia.  

Marching for Life on the 4th

July 4, 2022 - With the SCOTUS recently overturning Roe vs Wade, it was truly a day to CELEBRATE LIFE at Cedarburg's annual Independence Day Parade.  Once again, San Salvador Council families led a Pro Life Wisconsin entry, marching along in the parade with banners, signs, and Life Saver candy for all.  About 25 members of our KC family and other pro lifers participated, meeting with many enthusiastic cheers from supporters along the way! 

4th of July With the Archbishop

July 4, 2022 - Archbishop Listecki celebrated Mass this 4th of July with SFB parishioners.  He gave a moving, patriotic homily and was warmly welcomed by many KC families and parishioners!  The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard was present, which included Grand Knight Roger Knepprath (right).

Welcome for Fr. Matthew

June 24/25, 2022 - Following this weekend's evening Masses, Knights served pretzels, beer, and lemonade at Fr. Matthew Ferch's welcome reception.  SFB is blessed to have an associate pastor and Fr. Matthew seems to be fitting right in!

Family Adoration Night Dinner

June 24, 2022 - Every Friday, parish families gather at SFB South for Family Adoration Night.  It's an opportunity for them to come together with their children and teach them about Eucharistic Adoration and enjoy fellowship.  Quarterly, the San Salvador Council hosts a dinner for these families.

Clergy Cookout

June 22, 2022 - Over 30 Knights and guests joined Fr. Patrick and Fr. Matthew this evening for our annual summer dinner at the rectory.  The food was delicious, the weather was great, and we all enjoyed a relaxing, casual night with our priests.

Rectory Renovation

June 22, 2022 - The rectory at SFB North is being renovated to house 3 priests and a deacon: Fr. Patrick, Fr. Matthew, Fr. Nick, and Deacon Kevin.  What  a blessing for our SFB and St. Joe clergy to be together under one roof!  Over a dozen Knights were called in to assist by removing old carpet and wainscoting in the basement.

Corpus Christi Cookout

June 19, 2022 - Following today's Eucharistic Procession, Knights of Columbus hosted over 100 pilgrims for a cookout at SFB South.

June 19, 2022 - Fr. Patrick & Fr. Matthew led nearly 200 parishioners in procession from SFB South to City Hall, carrying our Eucharistic Lord through the streets of Cedarburg to celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ!  Along the way, songs were sung and rosaries were prayed, with many bystanders joining in.  San Salvador Knights assisted in organizing the event and provided an Honor Guard, led the rosary, and provided safety & security.

2022 Tootsie Roll Drive

May 22, 2022 - This month San Salvador Council Knights manned posts at St. Francis Borgia Parish, St. Joseph Parish, Piggly Wiggly, and Pick 'n Save as part of our annual Tootsie Roll Drive.  For over 50 years, Knights across the country have worked to raise awareness and funds for those with intellectual disabilities.  This year, generous parishioners and shoppers donated nearly $5,500!  Net proceeds will go help support the programs of Special Olympics and Portal Industries, which serve those in need and their families who chose life for their special needs children.  Pictured are Bill Bannantine and Tom Michalski with Tootsie Roll Chairman Roger Knepprath.  

Men of Christ Conference 2022

March 26, 2022 - Congratulations to Council Brother Jim Michaletz and the Men of Christ Leadership Team for pulling off another great conference last weekend for over 3,000 men in the Milwaukee Archdiocese and beyond!  The St. Francis Borgia satellite session was very well attended, with over 100 attendees.  The conference was promoted to the Council and over 20 San Salvador Knights attended for a day of Mass, confessions, fellowship, and spiritual renewal! Thanks to Jim and all who attended.

40 Days for Life - Lent 2022

Lent 2022 - San Salvador Council families joined other pro-lifers during this season's worldwide 40 days for life campaign.  In Milwaukee, we defended life every Saturday at the abortion mill at 1428 N. Farwell Avenue, praying the Rosary, witnessing to the Sanctity of Life, and offering hope for moms to choose life for their babies. 

Clergy Appreciation Night

February 8, 2022 - On February 8th, over 100 Knights and parishioners gathered at The Hub to honor the priests, seminarians, and deacons (and wives) of St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph.  It was a beautiful evening, topped by a talk by Fr. Luke Strand, new rector of the seminary.  Pictured top are Grand Knight Roger Knepprath and event Chairman Andy Mosko with some of our honorees.  

 

The San Salvador Council presented the following donations: $1,500 to SFB Catholic Education, $1,000 to St. Joe Catholic Education, $1,000 scholarships to seminarians Peter Danner, Brady Gagne, and Kevin Tanel, and many smaller gifts of appreciation to our honorees.

Family Bingo Night at SFB

February 5, 2022 - Brother Matt Anderson spearheaded SFB’s Family Bingo Night at the school gym on February 5th, raising $2,700 for the school.  Over 100 came out for an enjoyable evening of fun, great food, and most importantly good fellowship.  Thanks to the many Knights who turned out to help staff the event!  

Life Savers for Life Drive

January 17-23, 2022 - We raised $2,043.11 with our annual drive at St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph parishes.  Funds were split between the Women’s Support Center and the Women’s Care Center in Milwaukee.  These pregnancy help centers are working in the trenches daily to extend a compassionate hand to new moms and helping them CHOOSE LIFE for their babies.  Pictured L-R are Mike Hartig, Matthew Nemcheck, Ed Matejov, and Dan Duffy.

March for Life 2022

January 21, 2022 - Knights from across the nation were among the 150,000 pro-lifers in Washington, D.C. on January 21st for the Annual March for Life.  San Salvador Council, with the SFB Respect Life committee, co-sponsored a bus to the March!  Pictured are the 30 pilgrims who made the trip.

Tootsie Roll Drive for the Intellectually Disabled

December 28, 2021 - Our September Tootsie Roll Drive netted $3,778.81, with $1,511.53 going to Portal Industries, $1,133.64 to Special Olympics of Ozaukee County, and $1,133.64 to Special Olympics of Wisconsin.  Checks were presented today to Special Olympics President John Armbruster (L) and Portal HR Mgr Caroline Buser (R) to help with their wonderful work with our special needs brothers and sisters.  

4th Annual Consecration to the Holy Family

December 26, 2021 - For the 4th consecutive year, KC Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns led St. Francis Borgia parishioners in a prayer of Consecration to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph at all Masses on this Holy Family Sunday.  The Consecration, promoted worldwide by the Knights of Columbus, is a way for families to surrender everything to the care and providence of the Holy Family.  The Consecration is a much needed act of trust and love in these difficult and trying times for so many.

Disaster Relief for Kentucky

December 23, 2021 - On December 10, 2021, a violent, tornado moved across Kentucky, producing severe to catastrophic damage in numerous towns.  San Salvador Knights responded with a donation to the KC Supreme Disaster Relief Fund to help with recovery and aid efforts.

Food For Families

December 23, 2021 - A total of $1,500 was donated by the San Salvador Council as part of the Knights' Food For Families program.  Checks of $500 each were presented to the SFB St. Vincent DePaul Society, Repairers of the Breach in Milwaukee, and Family Sharing of Ozaukee County.  Pictured is Knight Dennis Fortuna presenting a check to SVDP President Andy Quackenboss and Tommy Kirk of Repairers of the Breach with their check.

Habitat For Humanity Support

December 22, 2021 - The San Salvador Council continued its support for Habitat for Humanity-Ozaukee with a donation of $1,000.  Knights worldwide support HFH efforts to provide housing for needy families through a long-standing partnership.  Pictured are HFH-Ozaukee President Jim Meyer and Grand Knight Roger Knepprath at the current HFH job site in Grafton, where a duplex in under construction for families to take occupancy in 2022.

"The True Meaning of Christmas" Poster Contest

December 21, 2021 - Students from St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph participated in our annual Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest.  The theme was "The True Meaning of Christmas."  Students grades 1-6 competed for prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.  Pictured is a poster by Arthur from St. Joseph.

KCIC Yard SIgn Giveaway

November 27, 2021 - Knights ordered and assembled 175 "Keep Christ in Christmas" yard signs to giveaway to parishioners at St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph during Advent.  The signs will remind our friends and neighbors of the true meaning of Christmas.

Manger Setup

November 27, 2021 - San Salvador Council Knights continued our decades-old tradition of erecting the Nativity scene in front of St. Francis Borgia South.  The display, along Cedarburg's main street, reminds passers-by that Jesus is the Reason for the Season!  We also placed 4 x 8 KCIC banners along Washington Ave and Hwy NN outside of the north and south parishes.

2021 Coats for Kids Drive - 384 Coats!

October 31, 2021 - To conclude Respect Life Month, the San Salvador Council Knights held a "Coats for Kids" Drive to raise funds to buy winter coats for immigrant families.  Thanks to many generous St. Francis Borgia parishioners, we raised over $6,600, enough to buy 384 coats!  New coats were purchased and drop-shipped to Catholic Charities in LaCrosse for Afghan refugees at Fort McCoy and to Casa Alitas immigration center in Tucson, AZ, where parish-son Justin Prom (son of KC Jeff) recently worked as part of his priestly formation for the Jesuits.  Pictured L-R collecting donations after the 10am Mass are Knights John Giuliani, Dick Bongard, John Thielmann, and Mike Neuberger.  

Ushers at Holy Hill

October 24, 2021 - It was a beautiful Fall Sunday and the San Salvador Council Knights fulfilled their annual turn serving as ushers at the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians (Holy Hill).  KC Councils from all over SE Wisconsin take turns helping out throughout the year.  Just some of those helping out were Jim Michaletz, Dick Bongard, Patricio Perez, and Rick Schaub (pictured L-R).  

Public Square Rosary

October 16, 2021 - Knights assisted in organizing and hosting this event on October 16th at Cedarburg’s City Hall.  The Public Square Rosary is a nationwide event to pray for an end to abortion and call down God’s blessings on our Nation, Church, and families.  

Star Council Award!

October 11, 2021 - At our October meeting, District Deputy Tim Bailey presented the 2020-21 Star Council Award to San Salvador knights.  The Star Council Award is given by the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council for outstanding achievements in growth and service.

Another Donut Sunday

Life Chain 2021

October 3, 2021 - John Herbert organized the Cedarburg Life Chain event on Sunday and brought out 23 pro-lifers, including many KC families.  The message was well received, with an estimated 5:1 thumb to finger ratio J.  Thanks to John and all who attended!

A Tribute to Abortion Victims

September 18, 2021 - Council families joined Fr. Patrick and others on September 18th at SFB South for the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, hosted by the SFB Respect Life Group.  Knights provided an Honor Guard and led the Rosary for the gathering at the “Rachel Weeping” Statue, which was erected in 2012 by the San Salvador Council. 

SFB Cemetery Project

September 2021 - Knights joined other parish members to set 170 crosses on unmarked graves at the SFB Cemetery on Pioneer Road this month.  The graves were discovered a few years ago with ground-penetrating radar.  In 2019, Knights held a fundraiser to place a monument marking the site where 49 unknown babies were found buried.  

Pizza With Padre

August 18, 2021 - San Salvador Council Knights of Columbus spent the evening at the rectory with our chaplain, Fr. Patrick Burns.  Around 30 Knights and some guests enjoyed a casual evening of conversation and fellowship ... until the mosquitoes moved in!

KCs Honor Veterans

August 9, 2021 - Our "tip jar" at the Ozaukee County Fair raised $1,358.90 for the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight, which flies veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the war memorials there as a way to honor and thank them for their service.  The San Salvador Council kicked in a little extra to present a $1,500 donation!  (Photo courtesy of Mark Justesen and the News Graphic)

2021 Ozaukee Fair Fundraiser

July 28, 2021 - After missing 2020 due to COVID, the Ozaukee County Fair is back!  The Knights of Columbus burger stand at the fair has been a must-stop for fairgoers for decades, thanks to our famous Cheeseburger with Fried Onions.  This is a huge undertaking for our Council and requires dozens of volunteers.  The 5-day event provides nearly all of our Council's operating budget for the year and is critical in continuing our charitable work for the pre-born, pregnancy help centers, seminarians, the poor and needy, Catholic education, and much more.  This year, our burger booth set set sales records, thanks to the hard work and support of many volunteers.  

Uganda Science Lab Project

June 14, 2021 - Brother Jim Graham is spearheading a project for the St. Francis Borgia Uganda Twinning Committee to raise $20,000 to equip the science lab at the high school of our twin parish, St. Paul's in Mukwano, Uganda.  Jim was inspired after meeting with Fr. Benjamin of St. Paul's a couple years ago, who told him of this need in order for their school, St. Francis Borgia High School, to be accredited.  As Jim puts it, "[the students have a] hard time getting into the next level schools to further their education. I firmly believe, in order for their society to improve, they need more highly educated people in the STEM areas."  San Salvador Council Knights voted to donate $500 to the cause.  Funds were allocated from memorial donations the Council received at the passing of Dori Govek, wife of Brother/Deacon Dick Govek and a former school teacher at St. Joseph Grade School. Corpus Christi Procession

June 6, 2021 - In celebration of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, Fr. Patrick brought our Eucharistic Lord to the streets of Cedarburg in a beautiful procession of over 100 parishioners from St. Francis Borgia South to Cedar Creek Park as a public witness of our belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  Knights of the San Salvador Council provided support by helping organize the event, leading the Rosary, and handing out water to participants.  

Aid for Immigrants and Refugees

May 10, 2021 - Along with our many efforts to protect and defend the preborn, San Salvador Council Knights approved $500 from our Pro-Life budget to aid immigrants and refugees.  $250 was sent to the Diocese of El Paso Border Refugee Assistance Fund and $250 was given for immigrant assistance programs at St. Michael Parish in Milwaukee, which does a lot of work with individuals and families new to America from various countries and ethnic groups.

Seminarian Send-off Celebration

May 10, 2021 - San Salvador Council Knights hosted a Seminarian Send-off Dinner at the south church this evening for Deacons Michael Malucha and Tim Schumaker, both of whom will be ordained to the priesthood on May 15th.  The Council “adopted” Michael and Tim several years ago, providing scholarships and moral support during their seminary formation.  Both men have ties to our parish:  SFB was Michael’s “teaching parish” the past few years and Tim is a member of our Council and his parents attend Mass here.

SFB Hospitality Sunday

April 25, 2021 - “Donut Sundays” are back at SFB and Knights hosted on April 25th, which was also a First Communion weekend!  By hosting these events, KCs help promote fellowship and community at our parish … and are the cause of a few tears when people step on their scales Monday morning.

Help for Persecuted Christians

April 2, 2021 (Good Friday) - The collection at Good Friday service is always taken for the upkeep of shrines in the Holy Land, so San Salvador Council members took the opportunity to hand out hundreds of KC "Christian Refugee Relief" pamphlets to parishioners today at St. Francis Borgia to raise awareness of this humanitarian crisis in the Middle East and encourage donations for Knights of Columbus relief efforts.

Men of Christ 2021

March 27, 2021 - Council member Jim Michaletz and the Milwaukee Men of Christ Leadership Team put together a great virtual conference experience this year, with Archbishop Listecki, Jason Jones, and Chris Stefaniak.  Parishes throughout the archdiocese hosted sessions.  At St. Francis Borgia Jim and brother Dave Braun headed up a team of San Salvador Council KCs who helped the effort.  Over 45 men turned out for the half-day event.  Pictured L-R are KCs Eric DeMarco, Matt Anderson, John Giuliani, Dick Bongard, Terry Retzke, and Jim Michaletz.

40 Days for Life

March 13, 2021 - Affiliated Medical Center on Farwell Avenue in Milwaukee is at the center of the 40 Days for Life spring campaign.  With clinic “escorts” out if full force ushering mothers and their babies in for abortions, members of the San Salvador Council joined other pro-lifers to stand in prayerful witness to the Sanctity of Human life, to pray the Rosary, and to offer hope and encouragement for moms to choose life for their babies.  The Council is represented every Saturday morning at Affiliated this Lent.

Life Savers for Life

January 25, 2021 - Our Life Savers for Life Drive after Masses this weekend at St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph parishes set a record, thanks to the generosity of parishioners!  We raised $2,911.71, which will be split between the Women’s Care Center and the Women’s Support Center for their heroic work counseling new moms and providing resources to help them CHOOSE LIFE!  It is so important to ensure our pregnancy help centers are fully funded and supplied.

Pro-Life Rosary Walk in Cedarburg

January 23, 2021 - This week marked the tragic anniversary of the Roe vs Wade decision 48 years ago.  Since then over 60 million lives have been lost to abortion and as many mothers have suffered emotional, spiritual, and often physical harm.  With political winds driving hard against the preborn, the pro-life movement has much work and prayer to do.  Today, braving single-digit temperatures, San Salvador Council Knights led over 60 parishioners in a Pro-Life Rosary Walk around the St. Francis Borgia south church, giving public witness to the Sanctity of Human Life.

The True Meaning of Christmas Poster Contest

December 28, 2020 - This winning poster from 10-year old "Addyson" from St. Joe School was one of many submitted by 1st - 6th grade students from SFB and St. Joe for our annual "The True Meaning of Christmas" poster contest.  The contest is one of many ways the San Salvador Council works to remind all to "Keep Christ in Christmas!"  Cash prizes were awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each grade, with 1st place posters going on to the Archdiocese competition. 

3rd Annual Consecration to the Holy Family

Christmas Meals at Repairers of the Breach

December 25, 2020 - Members of the Michalski, Bannantine, and Olsen families represented the San Salvador Council preparing meals for the poor at Repairers of the Breach in Milwaukee on Christmas Day.  The Council partnered with the St. Joe Human Concerns Committee, contributing $375 and 150 Tootsie Rolls to help provide the take-out meals.  Pictured are Tom Michalski, Montse Bannantine, and Nels Olsen.  

Support for Portal Industries

December 16, 2020 - Today, San Salvador Council Knights presented a check for $1,985.37 for Portal Industries in Grafton.  Portal is a non-profit agency serving adults and youth with developmental and intellectual disabilities since 1965.  Portal has a proud history of advocating for and supporting residents of Ozaukee County.  Today, Portal serves more than 200 people with disabilities, providing the supports and experiences to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. 

Support for Special Olympics

December 16, 2020 - Through our Annual Tootsie Roll Drive for the intellectually disabled, Knights of Columbus nationwide have been huge supporters of Special Olympics.  The San Salvador Council continued the tradition, presenting donations today totalling $2,010.38 to Special Olympics of Ozaukee County and Special Olympics of Wisconsin.

Habitat For Humanity Support

December 15, 2020 - The Knights of Columbus worldwide have partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help provide affordable housing to those in need.  Here in Grafton, Habitat for Humanity is building a second home behind Sendik's Grocery Store.  To help complete the project, the San Salvador Council is pleased to provide a second $1,000 donation (the first was made last year when construction began).

HOLY WATER GIVEAWAY

November/December 2020 - With COVID restrictions, parishes have been unable to provide holy water in church fonts since March.  San Salvador Council Knights are working to end the drought by offering holy water bottles to parishioners for home use.  Over 600 bottles of holy water were handed out to families at St. Joseph and St. Francis Borgia Parishes.  

Keeping CHRIST in Christmas

November 28, 2020 - Men from the San Salvador Council gathered this morning to erect the nativity at the south church lawn, as they have been doing for decades, to remind everyone that Jesus is the Reason for the Season.  Keep Christ in Christmas banners were also placed along Washington Ave. and Hwy NN.

Support for New Moms

November 17, 2020 - An important part of being "pro-life" is offering support to women after they have made the decision to choose life for their babies.  The many heroic people that run pregnancy help centers do just that.  The San Salvador Council continued its support of these critical apostolates in the battle for life with donations of $250 each to the Women's Support Center and the Women's Care Center.  Pictured with our checks are Hollie Landazuri from the WCC (Left) and Bernadette Stephens from the WSC (Right).  "We are always grateful for your unwavering support of the moms and babies we serve!," said the WCC.

ROSARY PROCESSION FOR OUR NATION & CHURCH AND FR. McGIVNEY BEATIFICATION

October 31, 2020 - Today, Knights of Columbus Founder Fr. Michael McGivney was Beatified!  In his honor, and to offer much-needed prayer for our Church and Nation, San Salvador Knights invited parishioners to a Rosary Procession at St. Francis Borgia south.  Over 50 people joined in to close out Respect Life Month and to pray for next week’s elections.  We closed the event by singing ‘Happy Birthday” to Fr. Patrick and presenting him a cake and a copy of “Parish Priest,” Fr. McGivney’s biography.

$2,235 TO FEED THE HUNGRY

October 29, 2020 - COVID fallout has put quite a strain on area food banks.  San Salvador Council Knights responded with a fall food drive, raising $735 from generous Council members, which was combined with another $1,500 of Council funds.  Donations were made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society ($500), Family Sharing ($500), and Catholic Charities ($1,235).  Pictured with our donations are representatives of these organizations.

SERVING AS USHERS AT HOLY HILL

October 25, 2020 - San Salvador Council Knights served their annual duty as ushers at the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Chrisitians at Holy Hill today.  Councils across SE Wisconsin are called upon for this privilege once each year.

SAVING LIVES AT 40 DAYS FOR LIFE

October 17, 2020 - San Salvador Council has been represented every Saturday morning during the Fall 2020 40 Days for Life campaign at the abortion mill at 1428 N. Farwell Avenue in Milwaukee.  Pro-lifers gather to pray and witness to the Sanctity of Life and to encourage new mothers to choose life for their babies.  Recently, a woman approached the group searching for a man named Kevin.  She said she wanted to thank him because his presence, counsel, and kind words there 8 months ago convinced her to cancel her appointment, keep her baby, return to her Catholic faith, and to reconcile with her parents!  You’re witness really can make a difference!

SUPPORT FOR SEMINARIANS

October 12, 2020 - Tonight, the San Salvador Council continued its annual support for seminarians of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee by presenting $1,000 scholarships to (L-R) Kevin Tanel, Deacon Michael Malucha, and Deacon Tim Schumaker.  Over 25 Knights turned out for this special night to show support and appreciation for our next generation of priests.  In honor of Columbus Day, the evening kicked off with an Italian Potluck Dinner, followed by the Holy Rosary in the church, before our business meeting.

Tootsie Roll Drive 2020!

October 11, 2020 - After being postponed several months this year due to COVID, our 2020 Tootsie Roll Drive finally launched with Knights taking donations at St. Francis Borgia Parish, St. Joe Parish, Piggly Wiggly, and Pick n' Save during September & October.  With up to 90% of Downs Syndrome babies denied the right to life, the KC nationwide Tootsie Roll Drive offers an important witness to the Sanctity of Human Life, raising awareness and funds for our intellectually disabled brothers and sisters.  Locally, the San Salvador Council supports Special Olympics of Ozaukee County and Portal Industries.  Pictured are Gary Hazlett and Patricio Perez sporting COVID-safe gear at the St. Joe collection on October 11th.

Life Chain in Cedarburg

October 4, 2020 - Thanks to our Culture of Life Chair-couple John & Charmaine Herbert for once again organizing the Life Chain event in Cedarburg on Respect Life Sunday. KC families were joined by many other pro-lifers in prayerfully witnessing to the Sanctity of Human life on South Washington Avenue from 2-3:30pm.

September 28, 2020 - Brother Dave Braun, Director of Apostolates at SFB, is hosting a fall session of the Into the Breach Men's Series, a powerful video & discussion program produced by the Knights of Columbus exploring how men are called to fill their critical roles as fathers, husbands, and citizens in today's challenging world.    

Knights Lead Rosary Walk

August 20, 2020 - San Salvador Council Knights joined over 60 parishioners at St. Francis Borgia's south church tonight for an outdoor Rosary procession to pray for our nation and church in these difficult times.  Knights led each decade of the Rosary, with Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns in attendance. 

Silver Rose Pro Life Event

August 8, 2020 - Every year, Knights of Columbus across North America Unite for Life through the Silver Rose Program. The “Silver Rose” makes its pilgrimage from Canada to Mexico, stopping at many cities along the way for a Holy Hour for Life before arriving at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Mexico City on her Feast Day, December 12th. This year, the San Salvador Council Knights of Columbus hosted the “Silver Rose” and invited all to a special outdoor holy hour at the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery Preborn and Infant Memorial.  KC Chaplain Fr. Patrick presided, leading 30 in prayers for life, our nation, and our world.

Corpus Christi Procession

June 14, 2020 - KC Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns held a Eucharistic Procession today in celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi.  San Salvador Council knights were there, leading St. Francis Borgia parishioners in the Rosary as we processed around the parish grounds.  Thanks to brothers Mike Neuberger, Rich Knoelke, Dave Braun, John Hayden, Roger Knepprath, Tyler McNamee, and Jim Michaletz, who photographed the event.

In Person KC Meetings Resume

June 8, 2020 - After 2 months of virtual meetings due to COVID-19 lockdowns, San Salvador Knights met in person outside for our June meeting.  It was a beautiful spring evening that included a pizza dinner, recitation of the Rosary, and our Business Meeting.  We also said thanks and farewell to outgoing District Deputy Tim Nighbor and welcomed our new DD Tim Bailey. 

Jail Ministry Support

May 10, 2020 - Ken Stanczyk from the St. Joseph Parish Human Concerns Committee is pictured with San Salvador Council's $250 donation to support their Ozaukee County Jail Ministry program.  The funds will be used to buy Bibles.

Mothers’ Day “Stuff the Crib” Drive

May 9, 2020 - To celebrate Mothers’ Day, San Salvador Knights assisted the Holy Trinity Homeschoolers in their annual “Stuff the Crib” drive to supply Milwaukee’s Women’s Support Center with baby items to assist needy mothers.  A team of Knights filled several shifts at the Mequon Piggly WIiggly asking shoppers to purchase baby supplies to donate.  Pictured are JIm Michaletz and son Xavier.  

Help for the Elderly & Homebound

April 27, 2020. - With closures and lockdowns amid the COVID-19 crisis, San Salvador Council Knights are offering assistance with shopping and errands for those unable to leave their homes.  If you or someone you know need help, please contact the parish office and they will let us know.  

Food Drive for Catholic Charities

April 24, 2020 - Answering an urgent pandemic-appeal from Catholic Charities to stock their food bank, San Salvador Council families responded generously, raising nearly $3,000 (including $500 in Council funds)!  Pictured L-R are Nels Olsen, Dave Breidenbach, Dick Bongard, and Dale Mueller at Costco loading up 1,245 pounds of food for delivery to the Catholic Charities food bank at 60th & North, which serves Milwaukee's most needy.  Included in the delivery were 60 jars of peanut butter, 50 cases of tuna, granola bars, fruit cups, and oatmeal, and 30 cases of macaroni & cheese.  Archdiocese Director of Urban Initiative MKE Anne Haines sent the following words of gratitude, "Please accept my deep appreciation and thanks for such a generous gift.  The San Salvador Council is remarkable in their generosity!!  Blessings on you and the Knights of Columbus!"

 

 

Spring Clean-up

April 20, 2020 - Brother Bill Bannantine led members of the San Salvador Council and surprised SFB Cemetery Director Brian WIllbrandt with a spring clean-up of his yard.  Last year, Brian fell from a ladder trimming trees at the cemetery and suffered a broken leg, from which he is still trying to recover.  Due to his injury, Brian has been unable to get to his lawn since last fall. Brian has given countless hours of service to SFB over the years in various roles, so it was good to be able to give back to someone who has given so much to the parish.  Helping Brian were Bill, Mark & Angie Wegman, Nels & Annika Olsen, Dave Mazza, Dick Bongard, Dick Sella, Tom Michalski, Steve Richardson, Tim Lynch, and Joe Willbrandt.

Divine Mercy Sunday (Pandemic Style)

April 19, 2020 - With Masses cancelled and strict lockdown rules in place due to COVID-19, Fr. Patrick still found a way for parishioners to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday together!  Climbing a ladder to the 2nd-level atrium windows at St. Francis Borgia School, Fr. Patrick exposed the Eucharist, while 78 cars with parishioners adored from the parking lot.  To conclude the 45 minute service, he led all in the Divine Mercy Chaplet and concluded with Benediction (broadcast via Zoom).  Donning protective masks and gloves, traffic and parking management was handled by members of the San Salvador Council, including Matt Anderson, Brian Kison, Bill Bannantine, Mike Daniels, Matthew Nemcheck, Angie Wegman, Jason Szpak, and Roger Knepprath.

COVID-19 Mask Assembly Project

April 18, 2020 -  This morning San Salvador Knights volunteered to assemble 700 protective masks to help in the COVID-19 battle. KCs Lead Lenten Stations

24-Hour Adoration Launched, KCs Offer Eucharist Booklets

February 26, 2020 - Months of preparation and hard work by Fr. Patrick, the parish council, many generous volunteers, and the San Salvador Council culminated today with the launch of 24/5 Eucharistic Adoration at St. Francis Borgia parish.  Several initiatives were carried out by many parish members to make this happen, including efforts by the San Salvador Council Knights distributing "Eucharistic Adoration" brochures at Christmas, hosting the "Vatican International Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit" earlier this month, and offering 500 "Light & Silence: A Eucharistic Diary" booklets today as a gift to all Ash Wednesday Mass-goers to celebrate what is hoped to be ongoing 24-hour Eucharistic Adoration for many years to come.

Seminarian Scholarships

February 14, 2020 -  Pictured are seminarians Kevin Tanel and Tim Schumaker with their Vocations Support Scholarship checks of $1,250 each from the San Salvador Council Knights of Columbus.  Both men are studying for the priesthood at St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee.  Kevin is a 1st Year Theology student who is assigned to St. Francis Borgia for his teaching parish the next few years.  Tim, a member of the San Salvador Council, is a 3rd Year Theology student who will be ordained to the transitional deaconate in May!  God bless you for answering the call to priesthood, Kevin & Tim!

Vatican International Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition

February 9, 2020 - Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament and there are miracles to prove it!  This weekend, San Salvador Knights hosted the Vatican International Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit at St. Francis Borgia.  Over 100 miracles were highlighted where Eucharistic Hosts have miraculously turned into visible flesh and blood.  Hundreds of parishioners and others from the area came to see the display and were amazed and edified.  Many knights, wives, and others deserve thanks for coming together to make this happen. New 3rd Degree Knights

February 10, 2020 - This evening, we had 7 Council members move to the 3rd Degree with the new ceremony just released from Supreme, called the Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. Inner City Support

February 5, 2020 - Anne Haines, Respect Life Director of Urban Ministry for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, was our keynote speaker at Clergy & Leadership Appreciation Night.  She gave a hopeful talk about her work with the inner-city poor and the many programs underway to help bring relief to this impoverished area.  Emcee Rich Knoelke presented Anne a check from the San Salvador Council for $300 in support of her work with UrbanInitiativeMKE Center in the Center.

Clergy & Leadership Appreciation Night 2020

February 5, 2020 - Our annual Clergy & Leadership Appreciation Banquet was celebrated tonight at The Hub on Cedar Creek.  Over 100 guests turned out to celebrate the Sacramental gift of Holy Orders and to honor lay ministry.  Attendees enjoyed fellowship, a delicious meal, and an inspirational talk by Anne Haines, Respect Life Director of Urban Ministry for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.  Honorees pictured L-R are Fr. Patrick Burns, Deacon Scott Wiese, Seminarian Tim Schumaker, Fr. Steve Lampe, Seminarian Kevin Tanel, and Deacon Al Lazaga.  Other honorees unable to attend were St. Joe Parish Director Brenda Cline, Deacons Dick Govek and Don Kabara, and several of our help-out priests.  In honor of our guests, the San Salvador Council presented checks to our priests totaling $2,500 to support Catholic education at St. Francis Borgia and St. Joseph.

Hosting “Donut Sunday”

January 26, 2020 - San Salvador Council Knights host “Hospitality Sunday” after the St. Francis Borgia 10am Mass monthly in December, January, and February.  The effort is headed up by chairs Phil & Barb Bail, who were assisted today by Dave Braun and John Gallo (pictured).

March for Life in Washington D.C.

January 24, 2020 - With a supporting sponsorship of $1,500 from the San Salvador Council, the St. Francis Borgia Respect Life Group chartered a bus to the March for Life in Washington D.C.  33 pro-life pilgrims traveled through the night, arriving at 6am for a full day of life-affirming activities with over 200,000 friends from all over the nation.  President Trump addressed the crowd in person with an inspiring pro-baby, pro-woman, pro-family speech.  His appearance at the March was a first for a U.S. president and was welcomed with enthusiastic gratitude.  As always, the Knights of Columbus had a significant presence at the March for Life and sponsored many of the events there.  Members of the Neuberger, Theiler, Retzke, Stanton, and Knoelke families represented the San Salvador Council.  Pictured is Brother Rich Knoelke with other SFB marchers in a crowd that filled the Capitol Mall.  Special thanks to Tobey Neuberger for organizing the trip!  

 

 

Holy Hour for Life

January 22, 2020 - Today is the sorrowful anniversary of the Roe vs Wade Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal in America through all 9 months of pregnancy.  Deacon Scott Wiese led a joint-parish Holy Hour at St. Francis Borgia South to pray in reparation for our nation’s sins against life and for a building up of a Culture of Life.  The evening was co-sponsored by San Salvador Knights, who provided readers, ushers, acolytes, and musicians.  Pictured are Deacon Scott with Dennis Fortuna and John Theilmann assisting at the altar.  Thanks to them and to Tom & JoAnn Berk, Dick Sella and John Gallo for their help.

Helping New Moms Choose Life

January 19, 2020 - It was "Life Savers for Life" weekend at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church!  Knights handed out Life Saver candies after Masses, collecting $833.36 from generous parishioners.  Proceeds were split between the Women's Care Center and the Women's Support Center, both pregnancy help centers in Milwaukee providing compassion and resources to new mothers and their babies.  The San Salvador Council has provided ongoing support for both centers over the years.  "My most heartfelt thanks to you and the San Salvador Council for your generous donation to the Women's Care Center!  We are blessed by the prayers, advocacy, and financial support of the Knights."  Pictured are WCC Ultrasonographer Julie Heyrman and WCC Executive Director Sheryl Laird with our recent donation.

KC Memorial Mass & Holy Family Consecration

December 29, 2019 - Today's 10am Mass at SFB was offered for the deceased members of the Knights of Columbus and served as our Annual Corporate Communion Mass for the Council.  We also sponsored Consecration to the Holy Family at all SFB Masses this weekend.  Just prior to the start of Mass, all parishioners were invited to entrust themselves and their family to Jesus, Mary, & Joseph by reciting the Consecration Prayer together, using prayer cards we placed in the pews.  This is a program promoted worldwide by the Knights of Columbus to increase devotion to the Holy Family.  About 1,400 SFB parishioners made the Consecration this weekend!

The Best Gift of All ... Jesus in the Eucharist

December 25, 2019 - Recent surveys tell us that up to 70% of Catholics don’t believe in The Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.  As a Christmas gift to St. Francis Borgia Mass-goers, San Salvador Knights handed out 1,000 brochures on “Eucharistic Adoration”  to spread the word that Jesus is just a present to us in our Tabernacles today as He was in the manger in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago, and He eagerly waits for us to visit Him.  This is part of a coordinated parish-wide effort to increase devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

December 18, 2019 - Students from St. Joseph and St. Francis Borgia were invited to enter our annual Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest, using their artistic talents to remind us all of the true meaning of Christmas.  Shown is one of our 1st place posters by "Abby" from St. Joe's.

St Ben's Service

The Reason for the Season ...

December 7, 2019 - San Salvador Knights are spreading the message of the true meaning of Christmas. Knights erected the Nativity Scene at SFB-South, set up two 4x8 “Keep Christ in Christmas” banners on Columbia Rd and Hwy NN, and are promoting a “True Meaning of Christmas” poster contest for kids at St. Joe and SFB. Keeping Christ in Christmas

December 1, 2019 - Knights John Gallo, John Thielmann, and Tom Berk (pictured L-R) were just some of the men from San Salvador Council helping spread the true meaning of Christmas after Masses this weekend at St. Francis Borgia.  The Council handed out free “Keep Christ in Christmas” yard signs for parishioners to take home and spread the message in their neighborhoods.  In recent years, we have distributed hundreds of KCIC yard signs in Cedarburg and Grafton.

November 22, 2019 -  The mission of Wisconsin Hero Outdoors is to help connect veterans, first responders and their families to outdoor activities in Wisconsin.  Our donation today of $500 will help them continue their programs, which are both therapeutic and fun, helping these families cope with a variety of issues. Pregnancy Help Center Support

November 19, 2019 - Today, the Women’s Care Center and the Women’s Support Center in Milwaukee received our donations from the "Life Savers for Life" Drive we had at St. Joe's in October.  Each center received $239.08 to help with their baby-saving work.  Pictured are Maryclare Stephens and Joanna Fons from the WSC accepting their donation from the San Salvador Council Knights.

Pro Life Film at Rivoli

November 17, 2019 - The powerful movie Unplanned tells the story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood facility director that had a life changing conversion and is now a Catholic pro-life leader.  The film played at noon today at the Rivoli Theater in Cedarburg.  The movie was offered free of charge, courtesy of the SFB Respect Life Committee, Pro Life Wisconsin, and the San Salvador Council Knights of Columbus.

Welcome to America! 192 Coats Delivered to Immigrants

November 14, 2019 - Through the amazing generosity of St. Francis Borgia parishioners, our “Coats for Kids” drive on October 26/27 was a huge success!  We raised enough funds to buy 192 brand-new winter coats for the families of St. Michael Parish in Milwaukee, which serves primarily immigrant and refugee families from Southeast Asia and Latin America.  Coats were delivered today to Sr.Alice and Ying Yang of St. Michael’s.  They are pictured here with San Salvador Knights Dave Braun, Dick Bongard, Phil Bail, and Deacon Mark Leonardelli.

$1,500 for "Food for Families"

November 13, 2019 - Knights of Columbus worldwide are dedicated to alleviating hunger in our communities through our "Food for Families" programs.  San Salvador Council Knights dedicate manpower and offer financial help to area shelters and food pantries to help the cause.  Today, our Council donated $500 each to food programs at SFB's St Vincent DePaul Society, Repairers of the Breach in Milwaukee, and the food pantry at Ozaukee Family Sharing.  Pictured accepting our donation is Family Sharing Pantry Manager Lucy Weller.

St Ben’s Meal Site

Pro Life Wisconsin

October 26, 2019 - Pro Life Wisconsin's 2019 Love for Life Gala was held tonight in Milwaukee.  Since 1992, PLW has been defending the lives of the preborn through legislative action and educational programs.  San Salvador Council Knights supported this year's Gala with a $200 donation.  Pictured is PLW President Dan Miller, who is also the WI State Knights of Columbus Culture of Life Chairman.

Ushering at Holy Hill

October 20, 2019 - San Salvador Knights provided ushering service at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians today.  Once a year, KC councils from southeast Wisconsin take turns helping out at Holy Hill.  This is a very busy time of year for the Shrine as many visitors come to the area to view the fall colors.  Thanks to all who helped!  Pictured L-R are Knights Dick Bongard, Dick Sella, John Giuliani, and Noah Abshire.  

Cedarburg Life Chain

October 6, 2019 - The first Sunday in October is Respect Life Sunday, which means it’s time for the Life Chain.  Every year pro-lifers across the U.S. stand in silent, prayerful witness to the Sanctity of Human Life.  As always, the Cedarburg Life Chain is organized by our Council Respect Life Chaircouple John & Char Herbert.  A dozen members of the San Salvador Council family joined in with many others.

Supporting Youth Day at Holy Hill

October 5, 2019 - The St. John Bosco Youth Day event was held today at Holy Hill.  For years the event has drawn hundreds of teens from around the state for a full day of prayer, music, worship, and sacramental grace.  The San Salvador Council continued its support of this important event with a $400 donation this year.

Parish Mission

October 2, 2019 - San Salvador Knights served as ushers and were co-sponsors of a a two-night mission at SFB called “Life to the Full: The Transformation of Suffering into Glory.”  Fr. Patrick’s brother, Fr. John Burns, and Sr. Miriam Heidland delivered powerful talks to a packed church both nights.  The event was part of SFB’s 175th Anniversary Celebration.

Helping the Intellectualy Disabled

October 1, 2019 - Over $4,000 was donated by the San Salvador Council to Special Olympics of Ozaukee County and Portal Industries, two local organizations that do very important work upholding the dignity of our intellectually disabled brothers and sisters!  Funds were raised at the Council's annual Tootsie Roll Drive in May.  Led by Chairman Roger Knepprath, this year's drive was the most successful ever.  Pictured are Roger & Jeremy Knepprath presenting checks to John Armbruster of Special Olympics and Marlene Morgan of Portal Industries. 

Fish Fry & Bingo

September 27, 2019 - In celebration of SFB’s 175th Anniversary, San Salvador Council Knights hosted a nostalgic Fish Fry & Bingo night at the school gymnasium.  Congratulations to Tom Michalski, Joe Willbrandt, and the entire Fish Fry & Bingo team for a very successful event.  We served over 300 dinners and provided a nice opportunity for parishioners to gather and socialize … and raised over $1,000 for the parish to boot.  Fr. Patrick expressed his gratitude to the Knights for hosting an enjoyable, well-run event.  Thanks to Tom, Joe and to all who helped, particularly our “area managers” Omar Rodriquez, Tom Pecus, Jeff Krzykowski, Dave Breidenbach, John Herbert, Jim Michaletz, and Dennis Fortuna.  Thanks also to Casa Tequila in West Bend for providing a delicious meal!

Awards for San Salvador Council

September 22, 2019 - Today, at the Knights of Columbus archdiocese meeting at Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, the San Salvador Council was presented 3 awards for outstanding achievements for the 2018-2019 fraternal year:  The State of Wisconsin KC "Outstanding Council Award," the Supreme KC "Fr. McGivney Award" for membership growth, and the Supreme KC "Columbian Award" for service to the Church and community.  Accepting the awards on behalf of San Salvador Council Knights were District Deputy Tim Nighbor, Grand Knight Erik Stanton, and Financial Secretary Richard Sella.  Congratulations and thanks to all men of the San Salvador Council for their part in these achievements!

Dedication of Cemetery Memorial

September 14, 2019 - Today, Fr. Patrick dedicated the new KC Infants’ Memorial at SFB Cemetery, honoring 46 unknown stillborn and infant babies.  The gravesites were re-discovered last year using ground-penetrating radar, along with about 150 other unmarked graves in the cemetery.  About 60 Knights and SFB parishioners gathered for the dedication, which was held in conjunction with the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, sponsored by the SFB Respect Life Group.  The service concluded with San Salvador Knights leading the Rosary.  Pictured are San Salvador Council Knights with the newly dedicated monument.

Honoring Our Veterans

Knights Support Seminarians

August 12, 2019 -  San Salvador Knights presented scholarships of $1,000 each to seminarians Tim Schumaker & Michael Malucha to support their studies for the priesthood!  Tim is a member of the Council that we have supported for several years.  Michael was assigned to SFB Parish over the summer as part of his formation.  Both men plan to be ordained for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in May of 2021!

2019 Ozaukee County Fair Fundraiser

August 3, 2019 - San Salvador Knights were out in force this week working our burger stand and the Ozaukee County Fair.  This annual event is critical for our Council, raising 90% of our operating budget for the year to do our many good works and to aid the preborn, the poor & hungry, veterans, vocations to the priesthood, youth, and so many more!  The Knights’ burger booth at the Fair has been a must-stop for fair-goers for decades.  Thanks to the many Knights families, members of the SFB Respect Life Group, SFB & St. Joe parishioners, and others that helped us set another record this year!

St. Joe Holy Hour for Persecuted Christians

August 2, 2019 - San Salvador Council brought the “Pilgrim Icon of Our Lady, Help of Persecuted Christians” from SFB to St. Joe’s this week for veneration.  The week concluded today with a special Holy Hour led by Deacon Al Lazaga (pictured).

SFB Holy Hour for Persecuted Christians

July 16, 2019 - Living in America, it’s easy to forget that the past 100 years have been the bloodiest in history for Christians worldwide.  Persecution of Christians is real and we must not forget our brave brothers and sisters enduring horrific hardships and even death for their faith in Jesus Christ.  The San Salvador Council brought the “Pilgrim Icon of Our Lady, Help of Persecuted Christians” to St. Francis Borgia this week to raise awareness of Christian Persecution, handing out over 500 prayer cards and informational flyers.  The week culminated with a special Marian Holy Hour this evening to pray for these Modern-Day Martyrs.  Pictured are participating Knights with Chaplain Fr. Marching for Life on the 4th

July 4, 2019 - San Salvador Council Culture of Life Chair-couple John & Char Herbert organized the Pro Life Wisconsin entry for the Cedarburg Independence Day parade today.  The following Council families were represented and marched along handing out “Life Saver” candies and pro life cards: Breidenbach, Hartig, Neuberger, Sella, Stanton, and Herbert.  The Ozaukee County crowd was very receptive to our “Love Life, Choose Life” message, with many cheers and supportive comments offered along the route.

Corpus Christi Procession

June 23, 2019 - A Eucharistic Procession at St. Francis Borgia took place today to celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi).  Chaplain Fr. June 21, 2019 - San Salvador Knights joined our 3rd Annual Pizza with Padre event tonight at the SFB rectory and enjoyed a casual evening with our Chaplain Fr. Helping Habitat for Humanity

June 10, 2019 - San Salvador Knights welcomed Jim Meyer, president of Ozaukee County Habitat for Humanity, at tonight’s Council meeting.  Jim gave a presentation on the work of OCHH and how the Knights can help.  The Knights of Columbus have formed a strong partnership with Habitat for Humanity worldwide, working together on new home and rehab projects for the needy.  Pictured are Treasurer Dennis Fortuna and Trustee Terry Retzke presenting a $1,175 donation from San Salvador Knights to Jim for OCHH’s important work.

Seminary Tour

May 26, 2019 - Seminarian and Brother Knight Tim Schumaker gave San Salvador families a personal tour of the St Francis De Sales Seminary today.  Our Council has supported Tim’s vocation for several years and he wanted to show his appreciation by hosting this event for us and our families.  Pictured with Tim are Dave & Judy Goggin, Terry Retzke, Heidi Stanton, John Guliani, Dick Sella, and Noah Abshire. 

 

Since 1845, Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, continues to form men for ordination to the priesthood in the traditions and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.  This formation integrates the human, pastoral, spiritual and intellectual dimensions of the Program of Priestly Formation.  The intellectual formation is done in collaboration with Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology.  In partnership with the people of God, seminarians experience the ministry and rhythm of parish life through the parish teaching program.

Tootsie Roll Drive 2019

May 5, 2019 - Our annual Tootsie Roll Drive is in full swing, with San Salvador Knights raising awareness of the dignity of those with intellectual disabilities at our parishes and local stores this month by offering Tootsie Rolls and collecting donations for Special Olympics and Portal Industries.  Up to 85% of Downs Syndrome babies are denied the right to life in our nation.  We hope to do our small part in dispelling the fears parents have when confronted with these difficult pregnancies and give hope and encouragement to those who have chosen life for their special needs children.  Pictured L-R are John Giuliani, Bob Shimp, Erik Stanton, and John Hayden at today’s drive at St Francis Borgia parish.

Awards for San Salvador Council

April 27, 2019 - The San Salvador Council won two awards at the State of Wisconsin Knights of Columbus annual convention in Appleton this weekend.  First, was the “Faith in Action Life Program of the Year” award for the Council’s efforts to place markers on nearly 200 unmarked graves at SFB Cemetery, including a large monument on the site where 46 unknown preborn and infant children were buried.  Second, the Council was recognized for the many and varied programs we accomplished during the year by being named “Division II Champion” for the “Program Activity Award.” Thanks to all members of the Council for their efforts in making these happen!  Pictured is our Financial Secretary Dick Sella accepting the 1st place award on behalf of the San Salvador Council Knights from State Deputy Jack Wrbanich.

Easter Gifts from San Salvador Knights

April 21, 2019 - Mass-goers at St. Francis Borgia on Easter weekend were given Divine Mercy prayer cards and  “Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth” booklets.  This easy-to-read publication by Catholic Answers explains the treasure we have in our Catholic faith and deepens one’s understanding and appreciation of the Church and the Sacraments.  Nearly 1,000 booklets were distributed by San Salvador Knights. Helping Persecuted Christians

April 19, 2019 - On Good Friday, San Salvador Knights offered prayer cards and brochures to SFB & St. Joe parishioners with information about the plight of Christians in the Middle East who have suffered great persecution in recent decades, most recently at the hands of ISIS.  Knights have been actively involved helping with medical relief, food programs, and rebuilding projects in support of these forgotten victims.  Parishioners were asked to visit ChristiansAtRisk.org to learn more about this humanitarian crisis and what they can do to help.  Pictured are some of our handout helpers, L-R, Rich Knoelke, Dave Schum, and Dennis Fortuna.

Men of Christ Conference

March 30, 2019 - Twenty-five San Salvador Knights and their sons attended the 13th Annual Men of Christ Conference in Milwaukee today as part of the Council’s Faith in Action Spiritual Reflection Program.  The day was packed with prayer, inspiring talks, music, and opportunities for confession with our Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns and dozens of other priests.  Fellow knight Archbishop Jerome Listecki presided at the closing Mass, with the KC Honor Guard leading the processions.  Over 2,500 men attended the event, including our Worthy State Deputy Jack Wrbanich and hundreds of KCs from all over Wisconsin.  Pictured (L to R) are San Salvador Knights Dennis Fortuna, John Giuliani, Steve Richardson, and Dick Sella.  Steve is a Subway franchisee and provided lunch for the event.  Thanks to brother Jim Michaletz and the entire MOC leadership team for hosting another powerful, life-changing conference!

Lenten Potluck & Stations of the Cross

March 22, 2019 - This evening, Knights gathered for a Lenten Meatless Potluck Dinner at SFB South. Support for Work Campers

March 22, 2019 - A $200 donation was presented to Sheri Hanson, Youth Director at St. Joseph Parish.  The donation will support one work camper on their MIssion Trip this Summer.

Honor Flight Donation

February 18, 2019 - Board members from the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight gave an outstanding presentation at our Clergy & Leadership Appreciation Banquet.  In thanks, Grand Knight Erik Stanton presented a $1,000 donation from the San Salvador Council to sponsor a veteran on a visit with Honor Flight  to Washington D..C.

Clergy & Leadership Appreciation Night 2019

February 18, 2019 - Over 100 parishioners attended our 2019 Clergy & Leadership Appreciation Banquet at The Hub on Cedar Creek to honor Brenda Cline, the priests, and the deacons (and their wives) of St Francis Borgia and St. Joseph.  Guests enjoyed a lively gathering, with a buffet meal and an inspirational presentation by the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight.  Honored guests included Parish Director Brenda Cline, Deacon Don Karbara, Deacon Scott & Jenny Wiese, Deacon Mark & Ann Leonardelli, Deacon Al & Rocki Lazaga, Fr. Support for Military Families

February 11, 2019 - In honor of our military families, San Salvador Knights donated $500 to Fisher House.  Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military & veterans families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital.  Our donation is helping those at Milwaukee's Zablocki VA Medical Center.

Women’s Support Center Donation

February 5, 2019 - “Thank you so much for the generous donation ... we are so grateful for you support!”  These were the words on Maryclare Stephens (right), Executive Director of the Women’s Support Center, upon receiving a $509 donation from our Life Savers for Life Drive.  The WSC educates, counsels, and supports thousands of women in the truth and beauty of human sexuality and the sacredness of human life.  Also, pictured is Joanna Fons, WSC’s Development and Marketing Director.

Women’s Care Center Donation

February 2, 2019 - Sarah Campbell, Development Coordinator at the Women’s Care Center, is pictured with a $509 check from San Salvador Council Knights.  The funds were raised at our annual Life Savers for Life Drive in October.  The WCC is located across the street from an abortion facility on Farwell Ave in Milwaukee and has helped thousands of mothers choose life for their babies.

Holy Hour for Life

January 22, 2019 - On this sad anniversary of the 1973 Roe vs Wade Supreme Court decision, Deacon Scott Wiese led SFB and St. Joseph parishioners in a Holy Hour for Life.  The event was held at St. Joseph Parish.  Deacon Scott was assisted during the service by San Salvador Council Knights Dennis Fortuna, Tom Pecus, and Dick Sella (pictured with Deacon Scott).

Serving the Homeless

Janauary 21, 2019 - With temperatures dipping below zero, the Cathedral Center shelter in Milwaukee is at capacity.   Families from the San Salvador Council were there to help, donating food and manpower for this evening’s dinner service for nearly 60 souls.  Special thanks to the Berks, Sellas, Grahams, Neubergers, Gauthiers, and Millers for their contributions to tonight’s effort!  

Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest

December 31, 2018 - Kids from SFB & St. Joe's schools and parishes were invited to show "The True Meaning of Christmas" by participating in our annual Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest.  Cash prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, with the 1st place posters being sent on to archdiocese competition.  Among the many impressive posters was this one pictured from "Abby" at St. Joe's School.

Consecration to the Holy Family

December 30, 2018 (Holy Family Sunday) - All parishioners attending Mass at St. Francis Borgia parish this weekend participated in a prayer of Consecration to the Holy Family, entrusting their families to the care and protection of Jesus, Mary, & Joseph.  The Consecration prayer was composed by Knights of Columbus Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore and is being promoted by KC Councils in parishes worldwide.  The San Salvador Council promoted the Consecration at SFB and provided preparation materials and prayer cards.

Help for the Homeless

December 15, 2018 - San Salvador Knights delivered a $500 check to Deacon Brown of Repairers of the Breach on Vliet St. in Milwaukee.  This daytime sanctuary is an empowering place where homeless and at-risk men and women create community and a sense of "ownership" in their center.  They work together to find solutions to homelessness using a "constellation" of free resources—all in a nurturing and non-judgmental context emphasizing "homeless helping homeless."

Helping Refugees

December 12, 2018 - A dozen brand-new coats from our recent "Coats for Kids" Drive were delivered to Catholic Charities' Refugee Resettlement Center in Milwaukee.  Since 1976, this program has welcomed and resettled thousands of refugees in Milwaukee. Walking with refugee families during the early stages of resettlement can lessen their anxiety and foster newfound confidence in adapting to a new homeland. Catholic Charities staff, and a network of volunteers, help meet these many needs by securing housing, furniture, household goods, food and clothing – for the refugees coming to America arrive empty-handed, carrying with them only a few personal possessions.

St. Ben's Jail Ministry Support

December 12, 2018 - A $400 check was presented to Capuchin Brother Bob for the St. Ben's Jail Ministry in Milwaukee.  An oasis in the midst of the courts, a state prison, and the Milwaukee County Jail, St Ben’s is a welcoming, safe place for those involved in the criminal justice system. Chaplains from St Ben’s offer prayers, a listening ear, help with needed resources, and hope for the future. They make a real difference in the lives of many during incarceration and after release.  Proceeds were raised through our "Keep Christ in Christmas" yard sign sale at SFB.

SFB Respect Life Group March for Life Trip

December 11, 2018 - San Salvador Knights presented a $500 check to Tobey Neuberger of the SFB Respect Life Group to support their bus trip to the Chicago March for Life on January 13th.  Pictured are brother Knight Mike Neuberger, wife Tobey, and some of their kids at the event!  

SVDP Society Support

December 11, 2018 - The St. Vincent De Paul Society has a long history of service to the poor and needy throughout the world and in our local community.  San Salvador Knights are honored to help support their work with a $500 donation.  Pictured are our Treasurer Dennis Fortuna and his wife, Michele, who is president of the local SVDP Society.

Vocations Support

December 10, 2018 - San Salvador Knights were honored with a visit from seminarian Tim Schmaker at tonight's Council meeting.  The Council has provided support to Tim for the past several years as he completes his priestly formation at St. Frances Seminary in Milwaukee.  Tim gave the Council and update on his journey to priesthood and was presented a $1,000 scholarship check.  Please keep Tim and his fellow seminarians in your prayers ... we need holy priests!  Pictured (L-R) are Trustee Terry Retzke, Tim Schumaker, and Trustee Joe Willbrandt.

December 9, 2018 - San Salvador Knights offered "Keep Christ in Christmas" yard signs after weekend Masses at St. Francis Borgia, selling 100 signs and raising $631.  Net Proceeds were donated to the St. Ben's Jail Ministry in Milwaukee.

KC Mass at SFB

December 2, 2018 - Today’s 10:00 Mass at SFB was offered for deceased Knights of Columbus and was our annual Corporate Communion gathering for San Salvador Council Knights.  Our gratitude to the KC Honor Guard who added to the solemnity of the Mass and to our Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns who was the celebrant.

Nativity Set Up

December 1, 2018 - For decades, San Salvador Council Knights have erected a nativity scene on the front lawn of SFB South in downtown Cedarburg to remind passers-by to “Keep Christ in Christmas!”  Helping with this year’s effort are (L-R) Peter Schmidt, Gary Fatla, John Giuliani, Henry Schmidt, Joe Willbrandt, Roger Knepprath, and Terry Retzke.  The crew also assembled “Keep Christ in Christmas” yard signs we will be offering after next week’s Masses at SFB.

Coats for Refugee Children

November 23, 2018 - Today, San Salvador Knights delivered 120 brand new coats to Sister Alice at St. Michael's Parish in Milwaukee for the many Asian refugee children served there. Many of these kids are from warm-weather climates and will be experiencing winter for the first time.  As part of our annual "Coats for Kids" drive, San Salvador Knights collected nearly $3,000 from generous St. Francis Borgia parishioners after Masses on November 17 & 18.  The coats were purchased through the Knights of Columbus "Coats for Kids" program, a nationwide effort that provides thousands of warm coats to needy children across the country every year.

SFB Cemetery Fundraiser

October 28, 2018 - San Salvador Knights, working with SFB's Cemetery Coordinator Brian Willbrandt, launched a fundraiser today to mark nearly 200 unmarked graves. Recent research using ground-penetrating radar at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery on Pioneer Road uncovered 197 unmarked graves, including one area of the cemetery that contains 46 graves of stillborn and very young infants born to poor parents unable to afford a proper burial. Parish records show neither who they are nor when they were buried. Contributions were requested to help create a suitable resting place for these precious little ones and parish members. Over $8,000 was collected from generous parishioners to place a cross at each unmarked grave and to erect a granite monument as a memorial to the infants. The image shown is the proposed infants' memorial.

SFB Mission Concert

October 21, 2018 - San Salvador Council was honored to provide funding and manpower in support of the "Come Hold My Son" Mission Concert hosted by SFB Youth Ministry.  Musician Daniel Oberreuter, lead singer of the Catholic band The Thirsting, offered a parish mission concert at St. Francis Borgia this evening. Daniel shared his personal testimony and a powerful message on the rosary, the Eucharist, and confession.  He has performed at World Youth Day 2016 and at hundreds of churches across the nation. For more info, visit ComeHoldMySon.com.

October 21, 2018 - San Salvador Council Knights are perennial supporters of St. John Bosco Youth Day at Holy Hill.  Every October, the event brings hundreds of young people together from across the state for a day of prayer, music, sacraments, and inspirational talks.  Today, John Giuliani, Joe Willbrandt, and Bill Raymond presented Deacon Dave of Holy Hill a check for $275 from the Council in support of this important event which takes place every October.

Life Savers for Life Drive

October 14, 2018 - San Salvador Knights were out in force after each of this weekend's Masses at St. Joe's and St. Francis Borgia for the annual Life Savers for Life Drive.  Knights and their families handed out Life Saver candies and collected donations for the Women's Care Center and the Women's Support Center in Milwaukee.  These crisis pregnancy centers provide counseling and resources to help mothers CHOOSE LIFE for their babies!  Knights pictured L-R are Roger Knepprath, Dave Mazza, Paul Monet, and Joe Willbrandt.  Thanks to the many others that helped!

Theology of the Body Speaker

October 17, 2018 - This evening internationally-known pro-life speaker Vicki Thorn presented her talk, "What They Did Not Teach You in Sex Ed" at St. Francis Borgia Parish. Vicki is the foundress of Project Rachel and the executive director of the National Office of Post-Abortion Reconciliation & Healing located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In November, 2010, she received recognition as a “Woman of Faith” from the Sisters of the Divine Savior. She is a Corresponding Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Her visit was co-sponsored by Pro-Life Wisconsin, the SFB Respect Life Committee, and the San Salvador Council Knights of Columbus.

Life Chain 2018

October 7, 2018 - The annual Cedarburg Life Chain, hosted by our Culture of Life Chair-couple John & Charmaine Herbert, was held today on south Washington Avenue. Despite the rain, Knights and others turned out to witness to the sanctity of human life.

September 23, 2018 - Grand Knight Erik Stanton presents a check for $650 to Wisconsin State Deputy Jack Wrbanich to support Special Olympians from Wisconsin for the 2018 games in Seattle.  Proceeds were raised by San Salvador Knights at our annual spring Tootsie Roll Drive.

Serving the Needy at St. Ben's

September 16, 2018 - Knights families from the San Salvador Council helped serve dinner at St. Ben's in Milwaukee tonight. St. Ben’s Community Meal site serves a hot, home-made dinner six nights a week, Sunday to Friday, 5:15 – 6:30 pm. Over 90,000 meals are served each year. All are welcome and are considered family in a community that shares a warm, safe environment. Fall Cookout

September 10, 2018 - Our annual fall cookout was held in appreciation of the many volunteers that helped with our Ozaukee County Fair Fundraiser.  Over 30 Knights and friends turned out for the gathering at SFB South.  Thanks to Gary Fatla and John Giuliani who served as hosts for the evening.

Prayer Service for Abortion Victims

September 9, 2018 - San Salvador Knights, their families, and the KC Honor Guard joined our Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns and others for the National Day of Prayer for the Victims of Abortion, a nationwide program organized locally by the St. Francis Borgia Respect Life Committee.  The prayer service was held at SFB south in front of the "Weeping Rachel" statue, which was erected by San Salvador Knights several years ago.

KC Ozaukee County Fair Fundraiser Success!

August 1-5, 2018 - Thanks to the many Knights, family members, and friends of the Council that filled the 104 shifts needed to make our 2018 fundraiser a great success.  This was our 2nd best year ever at the fair, despite an extremely hot Saturday and Sunday putting a damper on weekend sales.  The San Salvador Council has been serving up its famous burgers at the Ozaukee County Fair for over quarter century and we have hundreds of repeat customers to our booth ever year.  Special thanks to our chairmen Mark Wegman and Joe Willbrandt for heading up this event!  Pictured L-R are Julia and Peter Schmidt, Ladd Stanton, and Rick Schaub working the Wednesday night shift.

2018 Tootsie Roll Drive Record Year!

May 20, 2018 - Chairmen Roger Knepprath and Michael Hartig, with the help of many volunteers, wrapped up this year's Tootsie Roll Drive today.  A record $4,541.96 was collected from generous donors at SFB, St. Joe's, Pick 'n Save, Piggly Wiggly, and Beyer's True Value.

April 28, 2018 - Grand Knight Erik Stanton and Trustee Rick Schaub represented the San Salvador Council at the annual Wisconsin Knight of Columbus Convention in Middleton this weekend. 

Ultrasounds Save Lives

March 12, 2018 - The San Salvador Council donated $500, joining other Knights of Columbus Councils pitching in to purchase a new ultrasound machine for the Women's Support Center in Milwaukee.  Studies have shown that nearly all women who see their preborn baby on ultrasound CHOOSE LIFE!

March 12, 2018 - The San Salvador Council donated $300 each for two Eagle Scout projects.  Eddie Schmidt of SFB parish is putting together a tribute to WWII vets that will be on display at the Cedarburg Cultural Center and Sean Dgludowski is renovating kneelers in the balcony of St. Joseph's church.

March 9, 2018 - San Salvador Knights hosted this evening's Lenten Stations of the Cross at SFB South.  Dennis Fortuna and Phil Bail led the group in prayer.

Clergy Appreciation Night 2018

February 6, 2018 - San Salvador knights and other parishioners from SFB and St. Joe's joined in our annual Clergy Appreciation Night Dinner at Shully's in Thiensville to honor our priests and parish leaders.  Honorees included Father Patrick, Father Steve, Deacon Scott, Deacon Mark, Parish Director Brenda Cline, and seminarian Tim Schumaker, a member of the San Salvador Council.  The 60 attendees enjoyed a night of fellowship, excellent food, and an informative talk from Judge Paul Malloy.

January 19, 2018 - 38 pro-life pilgrims from St. Francis Borgia parish attended the 2018 March for Life in Washington D.C.  The bus trip was organized by the SFB Respect Life Group, with the San Salvador Council providing a $1,500 sponsorship. 

Support for Pregnancy Help Centers

January 14, 2018 - Generous parishioners from St. Joseph parish donated $880 to our Life Savers for Life collection this weekend.  The proceeds were donated to the Women's Care Center and the Women's Support Center in Milwaukee to help needy mothers and their babies.

Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest

December 24, 2017 - Over 40 children entered our annual Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest this year.  All of the entries showed that these kids really know the true meaning of Christmas!  The contest was open to kids in grades 1 - 6 and cash prizes were awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.  Pictured is the winning 4th grade picture from Emily at St. Joseph School.

Coats for Kids

December 12, 2017 - San Salvador Knights contributed $880 to our annual Coats for Kids appeal enabling us to purchase 48 new winter coats for children in need.  Today, on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the US Bishops requested special acts of charity for immigrants and refugees, so coats were delivered to Catholic Charities Refugee Settlement Services Center in Milwaukee (pictured is Case Manager Shannon Robak).  Some coats were also donated to the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary in Milwaukee.

Christmas Manger

December 2, 2017 - Members and families of the San Salvador Council took time this morning to help set up the Nativity set at St. Francis Borgia South.  This is an annual tradition the Knights have done for many years to remind the Cedarburg community to "Keep Christ in Christmas!"

Eagle Scout Project

November 27, 2017 - A donation of $250 was given to A.J. Patrick.  For his Eagle Scout project, A.J. is building picnic tables for St. Francis Borgia School.

Memorial Mass & Corporate Communion

November 26, 2017 - The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard assisted at Mass today at St. Francis Borgia.  The 8am KC Corporate Communion Mass was offered for deceased members of the San Salvador Council, with many Council members and their families attending.  Council Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns was the celebrant, with Brother Knight Deacon Mark Leonardelli assisting.  

Hospitality Sunday Hosts

Rosaries for Life Teen

November 15, 2017 - The San Salvador Council donated 100 Rosaries, Rosary Prayer Guides, and Divine Mercy Holy Cards to members of the new St. Francis Borgia Life Teen group.  Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.

November 13, 2017 - The Wisconsin State Council Knights of Columbus Culture of Life Essay Contest is held every fall.  We are so proud of the 53 7th and 8th graders from St. Joseph and St. Francis Borgia Schools who submitted essays for this year's contest, "Why am I Pro-Life?"  All of the entries gave us great hope for the future and all of the students are commended for their work.  Congratulations to our winners Maranda Uttke (St. Joe's 7th Grade) and Ahnna Faust (St. Joe's 8th Grade)!  Their essays have been forwarded on for judging at the Diocese level competition ... good luck Maranda and Ahnna!  Special thanks to Barb & Phil Bail for their work judging this year's essays.

Holy Hill Ushers

October 22, 2017 - Today, San Salvador Knights served as ushers at Holy Hill, the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians.  This annual honor is extended to Knights of Columbus Councils in SE Wisconsin and we have a long tradition of serving the Shrine in this way each fall.  Thanks to all who helped this year!  Pictured are (L-R), Terry Retzke, Joe Willbrandt, Rich Knoelke, Jim Michaletz, Erv Koch, Bill Raymond, and John Giuliani.

Pro Life Wisconsin Gala

October 14, 2017 - Pro Life Wisconsin held its annual Gala at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee.  This was a milestone year, marking 25 years fighting for the lives of preborn babies.  Archbishop Listecki and many other leaders in the pro life movement attended, including Knights of Columbus State Deputy Tim Guski.  Several San Salvador Council families attended the event as well.  Pictured are our Culture of Life Chair-couple John & Charmaine Herbert presenting a $200 donation from the Council to Pro Life Wisconsin Executive Director Dan Miller.  Dan is also a Knight and serves as the KC's State of Wisconsin Culture of Life DIrector.

Council Earns Columbian Award

October 10, 2017 - District Deputy Tim Nighbor presents the 2016-2017 Columbian Award to the Knights of San Salvador Council.  The honor is awarded by the Supreme Council to recognize the Council's many works of charity in the community and for the parishes we serve.  Thanks to ALL San Salvador Knights for your part in this honor!

Support for Youth Day

October 7, 2017 - The San Salvador Council is a long-time supporter of St. John Bosco Youth Day at Holy Hill.  The event draws hundreds of teens from southeast Wisconsin and beyond for a full day of music, talks, prayer, and worship.  At this year's event, the Council presented Fr. Don Brick with a $300 donation.

Life Chain

October 1, 2017 - San Salvador Council Culture of Life Chair-couple John & Charmaine Herbert have organized the annual Life Chain in Cedarburg for many years.  Held on Respect Life Sunday, this year's event drew an ecumenical crowd of pro-lifers witnessing to the Sanctity of Life to passersby on South Washington Avenue.  Pictured are, L-R, Knights Jim MIchaletz, Erik Stanton, John Herbert, and Terry Retzke.

Lifesavers for Life 2017!

October 1, 2017 - To kick off Respect Life Month, the San Salvador Council held its annual Lifesavers for Life collection after Masses this weekend at St. Francis Borgia Parish.  Knights collected over $1,000, with net proceeds going to the Women's Care Center and the Women's Support Center in Milwaukee.  Helping out after the 8:00am Mass are, L-R, Dr. Dan Duffy, Bill Raymond, Terry Retzke, John Hayden, and John Giuliani.

Culture of Life Award

September 24, 2017 - The San Salvador Council received the Culture of Life award for its efforts in raising funds for the Wisconsin State KC's pro-life initiatives. State Deputy Tim Guski presented the award to GK Erik Stanton at the KC's Archdiocesan meeting in Hartland.

Fall Cookout

September 12, 2017 - Nearly 50 Knights, Family, and Friends turned out, with our Chaplain Fr. Patrick, for our Fall Cookout. The event was held in honor of and to thank all of our County Fair Fundraiser volunteers. Memorial for Abortion Victims

September 9, 2017 - Council Chaplain Fr. Patrick Burns led a prayer service at St. Francis Borgia South, joining with thousands of others around the nation today in a Memorial for the Preborn Victims of Abortion. The service was held outdoors in front of the "Weeping Rachel" statue donated by San Salvador Council Knights several years ago.  San Salvador Knights led Rosary prayers for the event.  Pictured are the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard with Fr. Honor Flight Donation

August 24, 2017 - Grand Knight Erik Stanton presents a donation of $755.91 to Amy Luft of the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight. The mission of Stars & Stripes Honor Flight is to honor all veterans by flying WWII, Korean, and Vietnam war veterans, as well as terminally ill veterans from other conflicts, to Washington, DC to visit their memorials. The San Salvador Council raised the funds with a "tip jar" at our Ozaukee County Fair burger stand earlier in the month.

1st Sunday Rosary

August 6, 2017 - Every 1st Sunday of the month, San Salvador Knights, led by Terry Retzke, invite SFB parishioners to join them after the 8am Mass to pray the Rosary. Ozaukee County Fair Fundraiser 2017

August 5, 2017 - Our BIG Annual Ozaukee County Fair Fundraiser was a great success, with over 100 shifts staffed by knights and their family & friends. Farewell to Fr. Tom

June 16, 2017 - Grand Knight Erik Stanton presents Fr. Tom Eichenberger a $500 check and a statue of the Blessed Mother for his farewell gift from the San Salvador Council Knights for his many years of service to the Church, Parish, and our Council.  The dinner was held at Shully's in Thiensville, with numerous KCs in attendance.

Women's Care Center Celebration

March 4, 2017 - Erv Koch and GK Erik Stanton represented the San Salvador Council at a special Mass at the Women's Care Center of Milwaukee with Archbishop Listecki.  The event celebrated 8,500+ lives saved by a single ultrasound machine donated to the center by the Knights of Columbus in 2010.  Through the Knights Ultrasound Initiative, over 750 ultrasound machines have been donated to pregnancy help centers across the nation at a total cost of $36 million. The importance of these machines is demonstrated by the fact that about 97% of mothers who see their baby on ultrasound CHOOSE LIFE! San Salvador Council has been a long-time supporter of the Women's Care Center and donated $10,000 for an ultrasound machine for Life's Connection in Waukesha in 2015. Jericho March

March 4, 2017 - To kickoff Lent and the Spring 40 Days for Life Campaign, San Salvador Council Families joined Bishop-elect Haines, Fr. Patrick Burns, the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard, and many others at St. Rita Catholic Church in Milwaukee for the Jericho March & Eucharistic Adoration. Theology of the Body Event

February 23, 2017 - Internationally-known speaker Christopher West spoke at SFB School with hundreds in attendance. Christopher is an expert on St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body, and he gave a beautiful talk on the sacredness of human sexuality and the meaning of life. February 2, 2017 - San Salvador Knights honored the priests and deacons of St. Joseph and St. Francis Borgia at our annual Clergy Night Dinner at Shully's in Thiensville. Holy Hour for Life

January 22, 2017 - The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard and San Salvador Knights Rick Schaub, Mike Neuberger, and Terry Retzke served Deacon Scott Wiese for the 2017 Holy Hour for Life at St. Francis Borgia.  Many other Knights and their families attended the event that marks the anniversary of the tragic Roe vs Wade decision that legalized abortion in America.

January 14-15, 2017 - Thanks to all San Salvador Knights who helped with our annual Membership Drive at St. Francis Borgia the weekend.  Much goodwill was spread and several prospects were generated from the event!

SFB South Basement Renovation

December 15, 2016 - San Salvador Knights completed a $6,000 renovation of the lower level of St. Francis Borgia-South in December.  The refreshed space will provide a pleasant meeting place for youth activities, weddings, funerals, and other parish events.  The San Salvador Council is grateful to the parish for providing the space for our monthly meetings and other activities.

December 16, 2016 - After an appeal from Fr. Tom for coats for refugees at St. Michael Parish in Milwaukee, individual San Salvador Knights responded generously, pitching in over $500! 24 coats were purchased through the Knights “Coats for Kids” program at www.knightsgear.com to donate to the cause.  In addition, dozens of hats, mittens, and scarves were contributed.

Knights Donate Rosaries

September 30, 2016 - 450 rosaries were donated by San Salvador Council for students at St. Joseph Catholic School and St. Francis Borgia Catholic School to mark the beginning of October, the month of the Holy Rosary.

Eagle Scout Project Support

September 12, 2016 - San Salvador Knights donated $400 in support of Eagle Scouts Colin Shiesl and Sam Kluck.  The boys built an outdoor classroom and deck for SFB School.

Rosary Film Project

August 8, 2017  - In honor of Mary, on the occasion of her birthday today, a $250 donation was made to help with the production of Power in My Hands, a 78-minute film on the power of the Rosary to be released in Fall 2017.  Details about this amazing film project by the Rosary Evangelization Apostolate of Milwaukee can be found online at Rosaryea.org.
