Knights Visit Council Elder Dick Pultorak

On August 25th SK Rich DiDesidero and SK Sal DiNenna and their wives visited a senior member of Holy Family Council SK Dick Pultorak and his wife, Antoinette. All had a wonderful time discussing a variety of topics especially our connections to Holy Family Council, Bridgeport churches, and current events. Dick, age 91, is a great storyteller and entertained us with his humor and edified us with his anecdotes from his career as teacher, father, and grandfather. Dick continues to be a man of faith with many years of service in the Legion of Mary.

Brother Robert Lukens Instituted as Acolyte

Brother Robert Lukens was instituted as Acolyte by Bishop Lopes of the Ordinariate of the chair of St. Peter. The ceremony took place in Houston, TX. Also receiving this distinguished honor of service to the Church was Brother Steven Ingram. Services performed by acolytes include Eucharistic Minister and Subdeacon at liturgies. Brother Robert is the son of Steve and Edel Lukens and is active in the Legion of Mary.

Holy Family Council Receives 2024 Star Council Award

Councils who earn the McGivney Award, the Founders Award, and the Columbian Award in the same fraternal year qualify for the Star Council Award. Holy Family Council is one of 41 councils in Pennsylvania to receive this award in 2023-24 recognizing outstanding achievement in membership, insurance and service program activities. Congratulations, Brothers for this remarkable achievement.

Brother Steve Ingram to be Instituted as Acolyte

In photo with Bishop Ronald Gainer, Steven Ingram, a member of our council will be instituted in the ministry of acolyte in August, 2025 for the ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. He will serve in that ministry at St. John the Baptist parish where he is a member with his wife and two children.

The bishop of the Ordinariate, The Most Reverend Bishop Steven J. Lopes, describes this lay ministry as

       men who are instituted as acolytes serve the Body of Christ that is the Church by aiding the deacon and priest in the        celebration of the sacred liturgy and in bringing the sacrament to the faithful, particularly to those who for reasons of              illness or age are separated from the Sunday assembly.

Brother Steven Ingram is a Regional Vice-President of Legatus, an association of Catholic executives with a mission of promoting the Catholic faith in personal and professional life.

Holy Family Knights Attend Stand Up For Life Dinner

On November 23 the Pro Life Union of Greater Philadelphia sponsored its 43rd annual celebration dinner at the Sheraton hotel in Philadelphia. Our council supports this pro-life organization. Attending were council brothers; (from l) SK Sal DiNenna, Rev. Chris Redcay, SK Peter Korpel and SK John Puzio (not in photo).

Father Redcay, a member of our council since seminary days is the rector of St. Charles seminary.

Rev. Msgr. Ronald Popivchak Receives Bridgeport Lifetime Achievement Award

As part of Founders Day 2024 Bridgeport Mayor Beth Jacksier presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to three Bridgeport residents. From left Ken Frymoyer, Brother Knight Rev. Msgr. Ronald Popivchak, PhD, Beth Jacksier, and Mike Gallagher, Sr.

Congratulations to these men especially to our Brother Knight, "Father Ronnie."  SK Popivchak has served Sts. Peter and Paul Ukranian Catholic church in Bridgeport for over 50 years. He is a member of Holy Family council since 1973.

Knights Support Special Olympics 2025

The council is pleased to announce the results of the challenge match at the local parishes for Special Olympics fund drive. Donors from the three Bridgeport parishes contributed $855, matched by the council and rounded up to $2,000 which will be sent to Special Olympics to support their good work. Thanks to all those who supported our efforts.

Knights Honor Brother Al Cinelli at his Funeral Mass

Brother Albert J. Cinelli passed away on April 7, 2025. He was 92 years old and an active member of Holy Family Council for over 50 years. His funeral was held at his parish church, Our Mother of Divine Providence in King of Prussia, on April 11, 2025. Ten members of our council attended and were joined by two officials from Father Tomko Assembly, SK Carlos Escudero, Faithful Navigator and SK Herb Kaemmer, Faithful Comptroller.
