Council Website suspended

Brother Knights,

The council voted at the December meeting to not pay the $150 renewal fee for the UKnight website.

It was felt that there was not enough interest in the website to justify the expense of the renewal.

If you feel differently, come to the next meeting (council meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 7pm, at the American Legion Hall) and let the council know.

Thank you.  Vivat Jesus!

Holy League Men's Conference October 20, 21 2017

Brother Knights,

I received the following request from our Worthy State Deputy, Francis Mohr, regarding the 2017 Catholic Men's Conference which will be held in Mt Angel at the end of the month.  Please participate if you can.  I am attaching a copy of the poster for this event.  More information can be found at www.hlcmc.net

Recently I sent a letter pertaining to the upcoming Second Annual (English & Spanish) Catholic Men's Conferences presented by the Holy League Men's Ministry.   The English speaking one will be October 20th & 21st at the Festhalle in Mt. Angel, OR and the Spanish speaking one will be October 28th at the East Salem Community Center, 1850 45th Ave.NE, Salem, OR.   I've attached the Registration Form(s) for both in the event you have not yet registered.

This year one of our State Knight of Columbus Goals is "Spiritual Growth Leadership and Personal Development."  My Brothers, these Conferences which are sponsored  by the Holy League Men's Ministry are one of  the "channels" for the Holy Spirit to enhance our personal spirituality, inspire men to holiness and discipleship,  strengthen marriage and family, and could be a stepping stone for someone's vocation to the priesthood or religious life.  These Conferences also have the potential to encourage more Catholic men to join our Order and be additional "Laborers to My Father's Vineyards" as the gospel parable says

As Catholic Brothers, we need to support these Conferences.  Please make every effort to attend.   Send in your registration to the address listed for the one you will attend.  The Holy League Men's Ministry is also asking our assistance to help ensure all expenses are met this year and to help create and sustainable fund to ensure there will be more men's conferences featuring renowned and distinguished presenters.

As a Council, please consider donating a $100 or some amount to help with this cause.  Here are the details:
* Make checks payable to: Holy League / Memo HLCMC17
* Mail to: James Thurman, Conference Coordinator, 1012 Oak St., Sliverton, OR  97381

With the Oregon Knights of Columbus support, we can help this special ministry continue in the direction of New Evangelization that Pope Francis and the Church is asking for.

Vivat Jesus!

State Deputy

Brother Knights,
I HAVE RESENT THE PREVIOUS EMAIL WITH THE CORRECTION ABOUT THE BOWLING DATE.  ITS SUNDAY, NOT SATURDAY.  SORRY!
Merry Christmas!
Here are some dates for COMING EVENTS for our council...
Sunday, January 8th:  BOWLING NIGHT
This will be at Woodburn Lanes at 2pm.  We will have pizza at the site, while the bowling is going on.  If you'd like to go....just show up.  The pizza is on the council, but members pay for the bowling for themselves and their families or friends (all are welcome).  Bring the KIDS!
January 8th: Video First Degree
We will have a VIDEO First Degree Ceremonial for some local men that want to join our council.  This will be following the 10:00 AM Mass, in the American Legion Hall.  Please come and watch the video with these new members-to-be, and give them a great welcome into the council!
Sunday, January 15th:  RIGHT TO LIFE RALLY
We will be joining St. Mary Parish and heading up to Portland for the Oregon Right to Life Rally.
Our Worthy Grand Knight, Dick Bielenberg, will be driving the bus!  If you'd like a spot aboard, call Christen Copley at the parish office (503-845-2296) to reserve.  Pizza will be served on the bus.  It will be at the St. Mary School parking lo, and it will leave at 1:15pm SHARP.
If you'd like to attend the rally, but go up on your own, it will be at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Blvd, Portland.  The rally will be from 2:30 to 3:30.
Call Brother Rick Schiedler (503-845-6003) for information.
If we get 100 people to attend in our group, it will suffice for all four Culture of Life Activities for Star Council, so this will help a LOT in our quest for Star Council!
COUNCIL CHRISTMAS PARTY:  This will be Saturday, Jan. 14th, in the Parish Center after the 5:30 Mass.  The council will provide sandwich fixings and beverages...bring a side dish, desert, or salad please.
PARISH PANCAKE BREAKFAST: January 22nd.  We will have the usual menu...pancakes, sausage, and eggs.  IF you have not helped with a breakfast before, please come and give it a try.  Its really a lot of fun to prepare and serve a piping hot breakfast to our fellow parishioners.  Call Brother Rick Schiedler 503-845-6003 to help, or if you'd like to try your hand in the kitchen call Brother Ray Eder (503-932-2506).  At the December meeting it was decided that 90% of the proceeds will go to the fund to replace the siding on the Parish buildings.  10% will go to the general council fund.
Annual Council Chili Feed:  This will be immediately following the FEBRUARY meeting...Feb. 21st, in the American Legion Hall.
Upcoming ceremonials:
Saturday, February 11th:  2nd and 3rd Degree Ceremonial at SHERWOOD.  Starts at 10AM.  If you'd like to go...call FS Kent Purdy 503-881-1244 or purdalator2@gmail.com
Saturday, January 28th...FOURTH DEGREE ceremonial.  This will be in Eugene.  Time yet to be determined.  WE NEED MORE 4th DEGREE SIR KNIGHTS in our council.  We are not well represented in the 4th Degree.  Call Brother Kent Purdy if you'd like to move up to the 4th!
FAMILIES of the MONTH:
Congratulations to these Brothers' families for being recognized as our council's FAMILY OF THE MONTH...
September:  Dick Bielenberg
October: Don Wavra
November: Ray Drescher
December: Bryan Otter
January: Norm Zollner

Coats for Kids:  Thanks to all those that helped!  We distributed about 125 coats to local kids!
Food for Families:  Thanks to all those that helped.  We distributed almost a TON of food for St. Jospeh Shelter and the Christmas Baskets were distributed to over 100 families.
GOOD JOB, BROTHER KNIGHTS!
ANNUAL SURVEY OF FRATERNAL ACTIVITY:  We sent out an email a while back with the Survey attached.
Thank you to all THREE of you that responded!
So, there's 162 of you that DIDN'T take 5 minutes to fill it out!
I have attached another copy of the form.  Please take a few minutes and fill it out.  You don't have to be exact.  Just give us a general idea that we can use to fill out the survey, which is due JANUARY 31st.
YOU CAN INCLUDE your FAMILY's HOURS as well.
Print it out and mail it to PO Box 579, Mt. Angel, or if you can scan it and email it to purdalator2@gmail.com.
Thank you, Brother Knights, and may 2017 be a very Happy New Year for you and your family!

Please help the STONEKINGS with their healthcare expenses

Please remember...continue to pray for Stephanie Stoneking, that she is cured from Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Pray for the Stoneking family as well.  This has been a really tough road for them.

Stephanie is gaining on it, but is not officially "cured" yet.

Thank you!
