Knights Distribute Food Boxes

Our council is continuing to distribute food boxes, to community members in need. Since the end of May, members of our council distributed approximately 4,150  free Food boxes, containing approximately 100,000 pounds of food, to members of the community.

The food boxes were provided free of charge, through an FDA grant to the Archdiocese of Portland, to feed the hungry. We will continue to distribute the food boxes, every Friday, through the month of August.

Council #1623 in McMinnville Oregon is leaving No Neighbor behind, by distributing hundreds of food boxes every week to needy families in their community.

Every Friday since the end of May, the Knights of the McMinnville Council, at St. James parish, have been distributing food boxes to needy families.  Each Friday, anywhere from 550 to 610 large food boxes from the Farms to Family program have been handed out with no questions asked to anyone that shows up at the church parking lot.  On a weekly basis, ten to fifteen Knights show up on Fridays and through the month of August, have distributed 6520 boxes totaling 169,520 pounds of food.

For the Knights that have attended the distribution, they have found the distribution very rewarding.  The rewards are the words of gratitude, and smiling faces, of the individuals receiving the food, with heartwarming stories of how much the food means to their families, and how thankful they are for the assistance.

Council 1623 has pledged to continue assisting in the Farms to Family food box program until the program ends.  This type of Knight action is a prime example of Knights leaving No Neighbor behind.
