Knight Knews – Sunday 25-January-2026

Brother Knights,

Here is this week's Knews.

We heard yesterday, one of our KCIC Poster Contest participants was a State winner and his poster has been forwarded on to Supreme.  We will have more details as they become available.  Thank you to Rocky for spearheading this program and hopefully it will encourage more participants next Christmas.

If you have someone who is interested in joining the Knights,  please have them go online to www.kofc.org/join.  This eliminates any paperwork.  Please have them utilize the "Agent Code" TSPINELLI and his first full year's dues are free.  If we get three new Knights Exemplified into the Council during Feb and March, Supreme will donate $250 to the Pregnancy Center we support, which is Oasis.  If we finish in the top 10, they add an additional $750.

Want to also keep up with what is going on with the Council?  Check out the Knights updated website at www.kofctrinity.com. Contact Deputy Grand Knight and Webmaster Mike Lockwood (mike_lockwood@verizon.net) to post photos, announcements, and other council news.

Remember to wear your Knight shirt to Masses and special events. Don't have a Knight's Shirt? You can order directly from GulfSide T-Shirts on Ridge Rd, just east of US-19. We have three styles available: Polo, Button Down Oxford, and a Work T-shirt (which I keep a supply of in various sizes).

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Facebook page. If you are on Facebook, I would recommend you "like" and "follow" their page. It provides content for events for the week and you will even notice a couple of ads for the Knights on occasion.

The Council is selling tickets for the Florida State Council Charity Raffle.  Grand prize is $25,000, plus second and third prizes.  They are $3 each or a book of 4 for $12.  The council also benefits as we get to retain 50% of the proceeds to use towards our programs.  The more we sell, the more we benefit.  Contact Brother Jim Tiano at 267-266-3865 if you would like to purchase any.

Spiritual Reflection:(from this weekend's readings)πŸ™β€οΈ‍πŸ”₯

Mathew 4:112-23 - "Come and I will make you fishers of men".  This was the theme of our Membership Recruitment drive last August and I guess his presence was really working that weekend as we had a very successful event.  Let's continue our efforts through Lent and I would challenge each of you to recruit one new member.  Look how much we are accomplishing, but also how much more we could do and lead by example as Fernando Mendoza the QB from Indiana does, as Fr. Gary mentions in his homily this week.

Remember to carry your Rosary with you always and Pray it often.

"We shall steer safely through every storm, so long as our heart is right, our intention fervent, our courage steadfast, and our trust fixed on God." - St. Francis de Sales

Pope Leo XIV Message to KoC Supreme Convention 2025

Message of Pope Leo XIV to the KoC 2025 Supreme Convention:

Dear friends, I am pleased to greet all of you gathered in Washington, D.C., for the 143rd Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus. I also greet those who are participating virtually in these opening ceremonies.

You are meeting during the Jubilee Year of Hope, which encourages the Universal Church, and indeed the entire world, to reflect on this essential virtue, which Pope Francis described as “the desire and expectation of good things to come, despite our not knowing what the future may bring” (Spes Non Confundit, 1). I’d like to reflect briefly with you on this important virtue.

As Catholics, we know that the source of our hope is Jesus Christ and he has sent his followers in every age to bring the good news of his saving Paschal Mystery to the entire world. The Church has always been called to be a sign of hope through the proclamation of the Gospel in words as well as in actions. In a particular way during this Holy Year, we are called to be tangible signs of hope for those of our brothers and sisters who experience hardships of any kind.

Your founder, Blessed Michael McGivney, understood this well. He saw the many needs of immigrant Catholics and sought to bring relief to the poor and suffering through his faithful celebration of the sacraments as well as through fraternal assistance, fraternal assistance which continues on to this day.

This year’s Convention has the timely theme of “Heralds of Hope,” reminding all Knights of Columbus of the invitation to be signs of hope in your local communities, parishes, and families. In this regard, I commend your efforts to bring together men in your communities for prayer, formation, and fraternity, as well as the many charitable efforts of your local Councils throughout the world. In particular, your generous service to vulnerable populations, including the unborn, pregnant mothers, children, those who are less fortunate, and those affected by the scourge of war, brings hope and healing to many and continues the noble legacy of your founder.

With these brief words, I offer my good wishes for the work of the Supreme Convention, which I entrust to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, and to the intercession of Blessed Michael McGivney. And may the blessing of Almighty God, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain with you forever. Amen.
