Original Stories

Jesus is risen from the dead! This was the church's original message. The first evangelists spoke about the end of Jesus'  life, the cross, the resurrection. and the beginning of new life in the Holy Spirit. But eventually followers of Jesus wondered , "How did this story begin?"

Advent invites us to a new beginning. How did your story begin? You're invited to join Dominican Father Nathan Castle in a brief study of the stories of Jesus at the beginning of each of the four Gospels. You'll be invited to ponder how you got your start here. Father Nathan led a study/retreat Monday Nov. 29 - Thursday Dec. 2 from 9:15 to 11:15 at St. Pius. All sessions will be recorded and are available for viewing at one's own convenience.

Here are the sessions:

Join Us To Pray The Rosary

The St Pius X Knights of Columbus host a prayer meeting (remotely) each Friday 1PM. All are welcome to join us. We pray the Rosary for the sick and distressed. We use Webex (a free Cisco product) as our telecommuting platform. It allows the participant to join the meeting by telephone, smart phone, tablet or computer. You can join by audio only or share your video. The login procedure for the meeting is shown below. If you would like to add someone to our prayer list please contact Dan Pinda at If you would like a guide to praying the Rosary go to

A typical Rosary meeting consists of a short greeting period as participants join the meeting. A solicitation for names to be added to the list, requests for volunteers to lead a decade of the Rosary, Deacon Dennis starts the Rosary, and we proceed through the decades and conclude with prayers for the sick and distressed and for Protection in time of Pandemic. During the Rosary all participants are muted except for the individual leading the decade. This limits the chaos of having multiple people speaking at the same time over the telephone.

Meeting password: VivatJesus3 (password is case sensitive)

New to Webex?

If this is your first use of Webex you will need to download an application for videoconferencing. You will get the download prompt when you access the website above.  You do not have to wait for the meeting to start this process, do it before the meeting.  Try to have everything ready before 1PM on Friday.  If you load the app now and try to log into the meeting it will say your meeting has not started, but at least you will have all of the pieces in place for tomorrow.  There will be a practice session each Thursday at 1PM to help those wanting to learn how to embrace this ability in a less intimidating environment. Use the same login credentials listed above. If you have any problems setting up your environment please  email  Dan Pinda at

Prayer for Protection in Time of Pandemic

O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith.

O loving Mother, you know what we need, and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died.

Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure.

Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross, to the glory of the Resurrection. Amen.

Under thy protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God. In our needs, despise not our petitions, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe,
Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.
We fly to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones,
the protection of your holy angels,
that we may be spared the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted,
we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance.
Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,
wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be

patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to
our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection,
keep us in the embrace of your arms,
help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus.

NEW! Safe Environment Training

Registering As A Current High Level Volunteer

When Knights of Columbus serve as volunteers at an activity sponsored by our council on parish property, they are not only serving as Knights of Columbus volunteers, they are also serving as parish volunteers. Just like any other parish volunteers, members volunteering on parish property must comply with all safe environment requirements of the diocese.

The Diocese of Tucson is rolling out a new 3-in-1 Safe Environment Program in our Diocese through Catholic Mutual Group (CMG).

The CMG 3-in-1 Safe Environment Program allows all Priests, Religious, Deacons, Seminarians, Employees, Educators, Board/Council/Committee Members and Volunteers to use a standard platform across the Diocese to complete the required training, forms, and background check all in one system.  This will also allow the Diocese to standardize the clearance memo for all participants, to include clearance for training, forms and the background check using one document that expires every three (3) years.  We no longer have to track three (3) separate dates (training date, affirmation date and background check date) as we currently do.  We also do not need to continue to load the training, affirmation form and clearance memo into multiple systems and spreadsheets to track the expiration dates across multiple platforms.  It all remains as a single file in CMG that is available for you (the participant), the compliance officer and HR Office to share.  The cost for the system, training modules and background checks will be covered by PSIRT (Parish Self-Insurance Retention Trust).  This means there is no cost to you as the participant, to your Parish or your School for any of the services provided by CMG.

As we transition to CMG, we ask that all active Employees, Educators, Volunteers and Board/Council/Committee Members, who are currently cleared and in good standing with the current safe environment program, register and complete the CMG training, required forms and background check (as applicable) no later than September 30, 2021.

The link to the Diocese of Tucson Safe Environment site is  Please note that the site works best with Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Brave.  It is incompatible with Internet Explorer.

Once you are on the site, please follow the registration process.  You will need to register under the site name of St Pius X Parish and choose the role in which you serve at g. Volunteer:  High Level.  Attached is the quick reference guide for you to use based on your role of High Level Volunteer.  Everyone using this system has to use a unique email, i.e. spouses may not share an email.  Those without email will get their messages by signing into CMG periodically.

It will take an hour to complete the training and about 20-30 minutes to complete the steps that follow training, which is completing all the required forms and acknowledging all the legal notifications.  Please note, as you complete each of the required forms on each page, please click “submit”.  After you click “submit”, you will need to scroll to the end of that page and click “next page” to continue with the next page (form).

In addition to the quick reference guide,  please find the video as a reference to assist you with how to register and create an account in CMG.  The video is also available under resources in CMG as well.

Those of you who were cleared using a DPS Card may be required to come in for us to do a fingerprint card for the Diocese of Tucson.  They are no longer accepting DPS Cards for clearance.  We will keep you posted.
