Safe Environment Training
When Knights of Columbus serve as volunteers at an activity sponsored by our council on parish property, they are not only serving as Knights of Columbus volunteers, they are also serving as parish volunteers. Just like any other parish volunteers, members volunteering on parish property must comply with all safe environment requirements of the diocese.
The Knights of Columbus also requires Safe Environment Training and a background check for those serving in certain council service program positions. This is separate and in addition to the diocese requirements. The Knights will notify you concerning those requirements.
Policy of the Diocese of Tucson:
"All employees and volunteers, regardless of position, are required to undergo high-level security clearance and safe-environment training to ensure the protection of minors and vulnerable adults."
Once completed the training and background check are good for three years.
