Pope Francis and Father McGivney
The Father McGivney Guild, with its 180,000 members, joins the Knights of Columbus and the whole Catholic world in mourning the death of Pope Francis and praying for the repose of his soul.

We remember especially the Holy Father’s directive that priests should work closely with their flocks – the people in the pews and on the peripheries of society – and bear the “smell of the sheep.” Father McGivney was just such a parish priest, who wore himself out in service to his people.

Pope Francis was a key figure in the sainthood cause of the K of C founder, approving the first miracle attributed to Father McGivney’s intercession and promulgating the Apostolic Letter that was read at the Mass of Beatification on Oct. 31, 2020. Francis commended Blessed Michael for his “zeal for the proclamation of the Gospel and generous concern for his brothers and sisters” that “made him an outstanding witness of Christian solidarity and fraternal assistance.”

We thank Pope Francis for his service to the Church and pray that he may rest in the peace of the Lord, whom he loved so well.

Tempus Fugit. Memento Mori, Unity and Fraternity

Vivat Jesus brother Knights!  Blessed Holy Week

In the past year we have all experienced loss; including that of our brother Knights. I want to ask you how do you live our motto Tempus Fugit. Memento Mori (Time flies. Remember death) in your daily life. How are we living our lives, what are we taking for granted?

As surely as we do not know the day and time of Christ's return we do not know when God will ask us to return to him. We need to live remembering that “to dust we will return”. We need to live a faithful life. Through prayer and intentional living, we can prepare ourselves.

A few recommendations have been presented in a message from Jason Godin, a member of Chaska (Minn.) Council 9141. To read his message click here Some of those suggestions include remembering that death is not an end but a pilgrimage to eternal life. Pray the rosary often and to learn from heroes of virtue such as Blessed Michael McGivney.

As a lifelong paramedic I have faced death and loss along with the many feelings and emotions that accompany those experiences. One thing I have learned is that we are never alone, we need others in those times.

Recall the pillars of our Knighthood; Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism let us rely on our fellow Knights in times of sadness or loss. Through Unity and Fraternity, we are united as brothers in Christ. When we face difficult times let us turn to each other as we are stronger together.

Reach out to reflect and share with a fellow Knight. If you experience feelings that challenge you do not hesitate to seek assistance beginning with reflection and prayer. Beyond that help is available; please seek it out.

Vivat Jesus

Erik

Life. The
Other Choice.

The decision to continue or end a pregnancy has never been a choice of political parties or action groups. It is and has always been a choice of the woman. Choices characterize who we are and what we will become. They are rooted in hopes and worries, and even force us to face our fears and stand against greater odds.

SPRINGTIME PRAYERS

A spring prayer is a heartfelt expression of hope and renewal as the season of spring unfolds. It often reflects gratitude for the beauty of nature awakening and the promise of new beginnings. Through prayer, individuals seek blessings for growth, healing and the rejuvenation of spirit during this vibrant time of year. Embracing the essence of spring, these prayers invite peace and harmony into our lives.

=====================================================

Our Father, as the earth awakens from slumber, we rejoice in the beauty of springtime. May your light shine upon us, nurturing new beginnings and growth. Grant us the grace to appreciate the wonders around us and to embrace renewal in our hearts.

=====================================================

Our Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the beauty of blooming flowers. Thank you for the vibrant colors and sweet fragrances that remind us of Your creativity and love. May we always appreciate the wonders of Your creation and find joy in the simple gifts You provide. Help us to reflect Your beauty in our lives.

=====================================================

  • For the cycle of life which brings death and rebirth, we rejoice in the promise of Spring.
  • For lengthening days and sunlight’s warmth upon the soil, we rejoice in the promise of Spring.
  • For a snowdrop’s beauty reflecting its Creator’s artistry, we rejoice in the promise of Spring.
  • For new born lambs and their joy and exuberance, we rejoice in the promise of Spring.
  • For all of creation and the majesty of its Creator, we rejoice in the promise of Spring.
