Kidney Donation for Cody Carrico

Cody Carrico, is 28 years old. He was born with a kidney disease called Alport’s Disease. He had a kidney transplant when he was 24, from a wonderful woman who donated her kidney to him. Unfortunately, this kidney has been rejected so many times, it is failing.

If you or someone you know has ever thought about donating a kidney, please consider donating to Cody. There is absolutely no cost to the donor and the test is simple and can be done here in Paducah.

Please call Barnes Jewish at 1-800-633-9906 or 314-362-5365 if you are interest in donating.

If you have any questions contact Amanda Carrico, Cody’s mother, at acarrico@cpsk12.org or 270-350-3682.
Thank you!

--Kenneth and Amanda Carrico

NOVENA FOR LIFE - K/C PROGRAM

 FRIDAY, JAN. 21, 2022 TO SATURDAY, JAN. 29, 2022

The defense of life and the promotion of human dignity in every stage and condition are preeminent concerns of the Knights of Columbus and the entire Church.

From January 21-29, during March for Life Month, Knights are called to join all Catholics in prayer with Pope Francis for an end to abortion, euthanasia and the many social ills that bring illness, broken families, unhappiness and premature death, especially for the most vulnerable.

During each unique day of the novena, you can reflect on a quote selected from the teaching of Pope Francis on the sanctity of life, pray a decade of the rosary, and conclude with St. John Paul II’s prayer from Evangelium Vitae. By reflecting on the teachings of Pope Francis and calling upon the help of Our Lady for 9 days, we can deepen our commitment to the Gospel of Life and support the most vulnerable through prayer. The prayers and reflection for the novena can be found here.

The protection of life is a sustained prayer intention of the Church, and in particular of the Knights of Columbus. Knights remain firmly committed to defending the right to life of every human being – from the moment of conception to natural death. To commemorate and bolster this important cause, councils will promote a novena, nine days of sustained prayer, to build up a culture of life in our parishes, homes and wider community.

A LITTLE HISTORY

The Knights of Columbus was founded by Venerable Servant of God Fr. Michael McGivney, a parish priest in New Haven, CT. in 1882. The organization was formed to provide charitable outreach and care for the financial well being of Catholic families, focusing on the protection of widows and orphans, and on strengthening the faith of its members. The Knights of Columbus has grown into the world’s largest lay Catholic organization, with more than 1.9 million members throughout North and Central America, the Philippines, the Caribbean, Europe and in recent years in the Ukraine and South Korea.  An enormous force for good, the 16,000 Knights of Columbus councils have donated more than $1.5_BILLION Dollars (US) and 682 Million HOURS of service over the last decade to various charitable causes.
