Gary Moody

Gary is the lead of our RSVP program and his efforts resulted in a $500 donation on behalf of Seminarian Andrew Vickery along with numerous letters of support countless Rosaries prayed on his behalf. He is also a member of the Usher Ministry and is involved in the Merciful Hands Ministry that assists in the cleaning of the Parish. He is also active in all Rosaries and prayer events led by the Council. Gary is a regular contributor to all Council efforts including our 1st Annual Family Night with the Huntsville Havoc to get Knights together with their families for fellowship. He also led the effort to schedule and cook all the food for various Parish events including the Parish Picnic, Bless Fest, and the BBQ butts and pulled pork sales. In fact, he actually donated 2 grills to the Parish. No cooking event by the Knights could occur without him. Our council’s number one fundraising event specifically for the Council each year is staffing the concession stand during football games for JPII Catholic School. Gary is the driving force behind the planning, purchasing of items, transporting of supplies to the school, and conduct of the sales. Without his tireless efforts, there is no way we could continue to support these events and we would lose a major source of funds to the council every year. As mentioned earlier, Gary is our cooking guru and he smoked over 65 Boston Butts and led the effort to pull pork for our sale that raised over $600 for the State Ultrasound program. He was also vital to the support of our Blood Drive and the raising of funds for the RSVP program to support the Athens Women’s and Children’s Center. Gary has been instrumental to the success of Council 17519 from our time as a Round Table. Since our Council’s charter, he has served as our only Treasurer and performed flawlessly. He is one of four Knights in our Council who are literally involved in every event the Knights sponsor. When I need something done quickly and I need it done right, Gary is my first call. As an “elder statesman,” he is a mentor to our young Knights and he never fails to step up any time a request is made for assistance. He also contributed his tremendous artistic talents to create impressive works of art that hang throughout our Parish (see attached pictures). Simply put, our Council has won 4 consecutive Star Council awards directly due to his efforts.
