The Glynn Family has participated in many previous Events from organizing, to setup, manning the front door, making sure all is taken care of and the genuine compassion of what makes up this Family. They both love our Lord Jesus Christ, and you see them at Mass together serving the Lord. SK Brian serves as the Council’s Deputy Grand Knight with goals of Grand Knight in the future. October 2024

Brother Denis and Lady Julie Ferrara Family

When I think of Faith In Action, Brother Denis and Lady Ferrara come to mind. They both serve the Lord, Parish and Knights in many ways. Keep Christ in Christmas Candle and Card Sales is one of important Ministries the Council has. This program is also a Featured Program and is dedicated to this Ministry. Lady Julie is always with Brother Denis during the KCIC candle and card sales as well as participating in the ICCC Ladies Guild. Thank you Brother Denis and Lady Julie for setting examples of what Faith In Action represents!

September 2024

The Moran Family

The Lord taught us to be “Servant Leaders” and to Evangelize our Faith through Action. The Moran family teaches our Parish just that on daily basis. Martin & Christine Moran joined Immaculate Conception in 1998. When it comes to “Service” they are not in short supply. Both served the United States Army and are proud Veterans. Martin and Christine continue their service to the Lord and Immaculate Conception by Serving as Teachers in the RCIA Program bringing new Catholics into our Faith, Eucharistic ministers, Lectors, Commentators, Madam Vice President of the Parish Council and if that’s not enough they serve as Case Workers for the Diocese of Charleston.

They have three children and five grandchildren. The Moran’ have three sons, each of them are successful in the path’s they have chosen serving the Lord in many ways such as Community Charity , Armed Forces and Business Opportunities.

More specifically…. Tron is Executive Director for Healing Farms in Charleston. Healing Farms is a charitable organization that provides life skill activities to mentally challenged adults. August 2024

The Samson Family

SK Benny has been working totally without compensation and serves ICCC as a Maintenance Man as long as we can remember. He supports the kitchen work and cooking crews. He handles the PA systems and is completely self-taught. SK Benny was our Directorate Leader before COVID struck us all. Benny is also the Faith Director and his involved in just about every Mass. We see SK Benny at Weddings, Funerals, Masses and always working behind the scenes. He has absolutely no ego and always helpful. He’s incredibly likeable and never heard a derogatory comment about him.

Lady Nancy leads the Marian Choir and performs at the Victory Home at Walterboro, SC for free. The Marian Choir has been at other events such as Fall Festival playing their music that comforts others. She also serves every 6:30pm Thursday and Friday Masses with music as well as 1St Friday Adoration.

When you see SK Benny, Lady Nancy is close by. Both serve the Lord and Parish unselfishly with smiles and the natural willingness to help others.

Lady Nancy encourages her husband, SK Benny and her sons to service in the Knights!

July 2024

The Gutierrez – Mayen Family

SK Ivan Gutierrez and Lady Jenniffer Megan is selected for Family of the Month - July 2024. The Gutierrez-Mayen family, who became members of the Knights of Columbus Council 11991 in December 2022, have been a cornerstone of our Catholic community for many years, demonstrating unwavering commitment and dedication. As a Sir Knight, our brother Ivan participates in all our K of C Service Sundays as either a lector, altar server, or usher, exemplifying the virtues of the Knight of Columbus, as well as the Clean the Highway event. He is very active in the Spanish community, participating in and promoting Faith in Action programs in the church, such as adoration nights, Friday Prayer Groups, and Emmaus Retreats.

Madam Jenniffer is the leader of the Emmaus English community group leading and organizing monthly spiritually filled evenings with our English-speaking Emmaus sisters to praise and worship our Lord God and share a Gospel teaching. “Jenny” also volunteers her afternoons at the church office, easing the administrative load of our secretaries in a very large, busy, and diverse Catholic church. In addition to being a lector during masses, Jenny has undertaken the task of remodeling the church bathrooms with the help of her husband Ivan and other volunteers.

June 2024

The Buriss Family

SK Nate Burriss and Lady Megan is selected for Family of the Month - July 2024. SK Nate unselfishly devoted his time as Family Director for Council 11991 and Lady Megan supporting him during his tenure. On behalf of Council 11991, I thank you SK Nate and Lady Megan keeping our Lord Jesus Christ first, balancing the daily work life especially with a young family, the daily family obligations and giving the balance of your time to the Knights. You see them and their family at Masses graciously helping out where needed. They both are supporting and dedicated with the Summerville Catholic School. When I think and see them, I see their smiles and willingness to serve the Lord...together!

May 2024

The Flinn Family

Sir Knight John R. Flinn and his lady, “Irmy” are one. They are often seen serving each other, and Parish witnesses observe them working for the good of the Parish together; they are seen arriving and leaving at ICC together. They pray together… they serve the Lord together… they seek the piety of our Blessed Mother, together; they are one. When we look for an example of how two might be one, we see the Flinn’s. Their service is to each other, to the congregation, and to the Lord and his Blessed Mother is inspiring. It typifies a level of self-sacrifice that is comfortable and casual, because Sir Knight John R. Flinn and his lady, “Irmy” are one.

April 2024

The Caoile Family

Deacon Pelagio B. “Jerry” Caoile and his lady, Irma Pineda “Irma” are one. They are seen serving each other, witnesses observe them working for the Parish together, and they are seen arriving and leaving at ICC together. They pray together… they serve the Lord together… they seek the piety of our Blessed Mother, together; they are one. When we look for an example of how two might be one, we see the Caoile’s. Their service is to each other, to the congregation, to the Mary and to the Lord; it is inspiring. It typifies a level of self-sacrifice that appears to be almost casual, because they are one.

February 2024

The Chino Family

Less than a year ago BK Francisco Chino and his wife Lilianna joined the KofC IC Council 11991 and have volunteered and assisted in all faith, church, and council activities. In February 2024, they planned, purchased, and set up all the decorations and handled the logistics for the 17 February 2024 KofC Lady’s Appreciation Dinner. They also supported fundraising for the Virgin of Guadalupe Sanctuary at ICCC, contributing over $300 on their own. It is our honor to recognize and announce the Chino family as FOM for their outstanding support, dedication, and inspiration.

January 2024

The Hood Family

SK David Hood directly leads and supports website and network management at the IC Council 11991, Saint Caracciolo Assembly 3697, and the South Carolina State Council levels. He also personally provides the newsletters for both the council and Assembly. Theresa Hood is a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Guild, the newly formed ICCC Seven Sister’s Apostolate, the ICCC Chairperson for the Bicentennial Campaign, SYNOD, and an EMMAUS Retreat Group Leader. Both share responsibilities as and a member Lecturer and Eucharistic Minister and are actively engaged in Rite-to-Life ministries with alacrity.

November 2023

The Deacon Mayen Family

Our Catholic Christian outreach programs have new heroes at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (ICCC) and Parish and it’s KofC IC Council 11991. Deacon/Brother Jose Mayen provides multi-lingual services (English and Spanish) to ICCC and went well beyond the call of Service with the recent Congreso Eucaristico (Eucharistic Congress) beginning late July, continuing through the beginning of Advent. Simultaneously, and working in conjunction with Deacon Jose, his wife (Monica) and their and daughter Jennifer embedded EMMAUS activities for English and Spanish Parishioners; it was a “win-win” for the entire multi-lingual Christian community! Many thanks to our ICCC Outreach Heroes!

October 2023

The Strunk Family

Long time service with a no-nonsense approach and clarity for what is needed; SF Frank and Carol Strunk are a team that have excelled repeatedly. Over time, observing and receiving their input, our IC Council 11991 realizes direct benefits immediately. Whether the Council is preparing for a formal meeting and is getting to the Community Center readied or getting ready to send teams of Knights out to pick up trash and support “adopt-a-highway” beautification, both SK Frank and Carol just do something not yet being done. No one asks; they just do what needs to be done whether it’s making coffee or serving ice cream. There’s no need to ask for help or a need to offer recognition; there is just unassuming service.

September 2023

The Hood Family

SK David Hood has accepted responsibility for website and network management at the Immaculate Conception Council 11991, Saint Caracciolo Assembly 3697, and South Carolina State Council levels. Additionally, he personally provides the newsletters at the IC Council 11991 and Saint Caracciolo Assembly 3697 levels. Terry Hood is the Council event coordinator, a member of the Catholic Daughters, the treasurer of the Ladies Guild, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (ICCC) Seven Sister’s Apostolate, ICCC Chairperson for the Bicentennial Campaign and Catholic Appeal of South Carolina, the SYNOD on synodality coordinator, and an EMMAUS Retreat Table Leader. Both are Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers and share all the ICCC Rite-to-Life ministries with alacrity.

August 2023

The McNerny Family

Long consistent service in the Lord for the family at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (ICCC) and parish community of believers. Both Deacon Dan McNerny and his wife, Nancy, were in continuous support to and for the entire family of believers. Supporting multiple ministries and visibly supportive of or from the Mass to Faith Formation (and CCD Program before it) Deacon Dan was a teacher-mentor in the 2022-2023 Communion Class to both their (Nancy and Deacon Dan) presence in multiple Right to Life events in and around ICCC. Their calm and confident demeanor was at once reassuring and spontaneous… Pray for our McNerny’s!

July 2023

The Pineda Family

When you see SK Ike and Yolanda Pineda together at ICCC, you immediately know you’ve seen them before, but you may not be sure where… exactly. That’s because our Good Brother and his wife our in plain sight glorifying the Lord “invisibly.” For her part, Yolanda may have helped you and your family to a seat in the presence of the Lord; she had one ready and quietly ushered you in. For his part, Ike serves in the kitchen as a sous chef and generally washed dishes or simply has been there doing what was needed, without asking how he can help; he just quietly did it. Quiet humility and dedicated service to the Lord; without these kinds of sacrifice, we would not exist as an IC Council 11991 – VIVAT JESUS!

June 2023

The Campos Family

Bk Miguel and Zulma are a very active couple supporting our Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in several ministries, from the KofC Spanish Round Table to the Emmaus family ministry. They worked very hard during the Taste of Goose Creek setting up tents, tables, and manning the Hispanic food booth. Miguel is the church's Spanish mass lead hospitality minister, consistently demonstrating his leadership skills managing ten (10) hospitality ministers (ushers) every Sunday. Additionally, Miguel worked very hard in remodeling our church Adoration Room. Finally, both Miguel and Zulma both were highly instrumental in the KofC/LPC Baby Bottle Drive from Mothers’ Day through Fathers’ Day.

May 2023

The Hood Family

Our Brother Knight SK David Hood takes the initiative and silently, humbly meets the needs without fanfare. He asks for no notoriety and simply gets the job done… need a new KofC shirt, see SK David Hood… need IT and a Facebook Page, see David Hood. Wait stop! Have I mentioned Ms. Terry Hood? Need someone to gather support from our ladies in support of the husband Knights, see Terry Hood… need someone to step up and build a poster to support your breakfast, see Terry Hood… need someone to show you how to bring in the kids of the Parish for a breakfast, see Terry Hood… need a husband and wife team to support each other and the Knights in the Tootsie Roll Drive, see the Hood Family Team.

April 2023

The Israel Loa Lujan-Loa Saldana Family

This young family of Spanish Heritage is a force in the Spanish community and knights of Columbus Roundtable. Israel has risen in the Roundtable to service as a member of the Exemplification Team and is consistent in his desire to bring in new members. He leads from the front and recently took over as the Committee Lead for the Adopt-a-Highway crews responsible for maintaining a huge swath of highway clean-up in front of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Israel fearlessly leads his family as they lead services from the lectern and support spontaneous English to Spanish translation. Our family of believers is extraordinarily fortunate to have them working alongside us.

March 2023

The Glynn Family

When new members and their families join the ICC Council 11991, they often take months to see where they might best fit into our Council’s service-offerings. They explore service looking for where best their talents and gifts of the Holy Spirit match up; enter Brian and Ann Marie Glynn. At the time of his entry, there happened to be an opening for a Faith Director (possibly, the Holy Spirit… I just don’t believe in coincidence); Brother Brian agreed to accept the challenge. Then, in his first O&D, he heard the March Calendar did not include a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. That was an unacceptable situation, and the Glynn’s accepted the challenge. The results: the Glynn’s are home and we have missed them!

February 2023

The Hood Family

Contributions at a family level are sometimes difficult to articulate, because we don’t always have enough insight outside of the Council and into the support provided by the Lady of our Knight. Enter Therese Hood in support of David Hood (our brother). He’s there carrying our communications workload and does that at both the Council and the Assembly levels. Therese, on-the-hand is the Parish lead for the Diocese of Charleston’s newest program the Catholic Appeal of South Carolina, CASC (replaces the Bishop’s Annual Appeal). Then, when no one’s looking, they also make our Ladies’ Appreciation Dinner extra special with gifts and flowers. We’re so very fortunate to have them… thank-you so very much!

January 2023

The Juan Rodriquez Family

Juan and Brittany Rodriquez are relatively new to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Family of Believers. Juan, a new member of Council 11991 and a “new” Catholic transitioned through the RCIA program just a year ago. With a family including three beautiful children, they have been active leads for two of the Parish Fall Festivals and one of our Taste of Goose Creek activities. The carved out leads “dunk tank” enhancing family participation and enjoyment throughout. Their service and sacrifice at Mass, Rosaries, and as members of the KofC and Catholic Daughters sends a clear message of commitment and shared love for God and his ICCC community and parish!

December 2022

Nick Bogart Family

Service and being in-service is a major point of pride for any member of the Knight’s of the Columbus, but when the family shares in that service there is “force-multiplier” effect. The result has taken a new form as we are witness transitioning from being is service to being in the sacrificial mode. This has been the case of all our previous FOM, and this is especially true of the Bogart family. When Nick assumed the Directorship and lead as the Adopt-the-Family, he could have let the program continued as it existed before, but he knew we could do better. He and his wife successfully brought a model that directly benefited seven families and for less than the cost of the previous year’s costs for a single family!

November 2022

Denis Ferrara Family

When families arrive and become “new” members of a Catholic Parish Community, it is not unusual for them to want to participate in ministries that may have been a part of in their lives from a previous Catholic Community. Such is the case of our Brother Knight Denis and his wife Julie. They enjoyed a teaching-mentoring opportunity as Brother Denis transitioned to his “new” council; the ICC Council 11991. They have found additional ways to contribute. Their contributions included a shared lead in sales of Christmas Cards and Candles this last year and worked with our mission Church at Cane Bay. As all good Catholic men do, Denis looked to serve, and we’ve honored to have our Worthy Lecturer!

October 2022

James "Jim" Harris Family

A family truly dedicated to service and in full support of the Knights of Columbus, simultaneously. SK James Harris, his wife Joan, and their daughter Jasmin are always “all in!” Their service from past tootsie roll collections to their newest found ministries in food purchasing, preparation, and clean-up… and did I mention accepting payment at the door. In every phase and at every level, and at every position and level, the Knights of Columbus Immaculate Conception Council 11991 Family of the Month for October excelled. They worked as a team, independently, both within the “nuclear” family and alongside their extended Knights of Columbus family. We are fortunate to have them and honored by their service.

September 2022

The McCauley Family

See a problem; fix it! Notice the missing subject of the sentences? The McCauley’s do not see them either, they are too busy working on the problems and providing support either as leads in problem solving or working to support others doing the work. John and Linda McCauley have the work ethic and the Knights of Columbus’ selflessness point of view that make them an inspiration. They don’t actively seek additional responsibilities, but they willingly accept it when a task presents itself. From going the extra mile in recruiting for the KofC and service for the Fall Festival to providing plasticware sleeves filled with the correct plasticware for our socials; no task too big or small from our family in-service.

August 2022

The Totolo Family

Active leads in the ICCC Religious Education Program as a teacher at the 4th Grade Level, to Leadership support for the ICCC Bereavement Committee, and as the Highway Clean-up Committee Leader for the Knights of Columbus Council 11991. The Totolo Family is leading front the front. Chris is highly visible in the community at large as the Committee Lead for highway Clean-up, Kathy provides direct support to grieving families of Parishioners with loved ones that have passed on to the Lord as a member of the ICCC Bereavement Committee, and their daughter, Kristal teaches the Sunday morning 4th Grade level students culminating multi-generational Christian service offerings from a truly inspirational family.

July 2022

The Phillips Family

2021-2022 Past Grand Knight for Council 11991, Mark Phillips continues to provide direct support to the council by spontaneously providing unassuming, humble service from serving breakfast to Parishioners to placing the Council Banner and Father McGivney’s Iconic Portrait at the alter in celebration of the Feast Day for the Founder of the Knights of Columbus. Sue Phillips continues to also support the social needs for Council 11991 by directly mentoring and leading efforts to support the recurring Knights of Columbus Social Events. Both Mark and Sue provide services that directly provide a positive and favorable portrait of the Knights of Columbus and are recognized for their good and faithful service.

June 2022

The Kelly Family

Service is the hallmark of the individual members of the Knights of Columbus. For the Kelly family members, this service extends beyond the members of the Knights of Columbus, to the members of the Veterans Administration. Their unassuming, humble, and dedicated service not only impacts the members of the Knights of Columbus and veterans, but also to our Council 11991 Brother and Priest Father Lawrence Abara who personally thanked them for their “wonderful and sincerely appreciated” service to him, the hospitalized veterans of Ralph F. Johnson, and the Lord. We are grateful for their on-going and gracious service.

September 2021

The Ron Snyder Family

the Family of the Month is SK Ron Snyder and his wife Ann for their
efforts in several council activities and for coordinating the September social.
