Wilfred P. "Bill" Carrier 82, Carmel, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006. He had been a consultant for North American Mallory Capacitor Co. for 12 years and had been the Director of QualityReliabilityEngineering and Technical Liaison for the Mallory Capacitor Company for 32 years and retired in 1990. He was actively involved in a number of major programs, Minuteman and NASA, as well as major consumer projects. Prior to that he was a technical manager for Delco, RCA and Standard Coil Products in Chicago. He attended the Illinois Institute of Technology and the Wabash College Institute for Personal Development. He was the USA Technical Advisor for Electronic Components to the International Electrotechnical Commission (a global standards organization involving 49 countries and a wide spectrum of products). He held various chairmenships and memberships in the Electronic Industry Association, American Society of Quality (a Regional director and Board of Director member), American National Standards Institute and the Institute of ElectricalElectronic Engineers. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Electronics Manufactures Association and the Electronic Industry Association, as well as awards from the American Society of Quality and the American National Standards Institute. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church from 1960 and officer of the Men's Club, a charter member and trustee officer as well as Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Carmel Council, the President of the Chesterton Neighborhood Association and a past member of the Indianapolis Athletic Club. He was a WWII veteran, having served in China, Burma, India and Japan. He leaves his sons, Patrick Carrier of Boston and Timothy Carrier of Indianapolis, as well as his daughter-in-law Harriet of Boston and two grandsons, Nat and William. His beloved wife of almost 60 years Mary, died in June of 2003. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Free Clinic at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Mon. May 22 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sun. May 21 in Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Carmel. |
