Sir Knight Don Mc Carley became a 1st degree knight on March 16, 1998. Don became a Sir Knight of the 4th degree March 25, 2000. Don has 22 years of continuous service. Don served as Grand Knight of Council 7553 from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2011. He served as Faithful Admiral of Assembly 2665 from July 1, 2012 to June 20, 2013. He served as Assembly Trustee from July1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. Don commanded the Assembly 2665 Color Corps from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2017.
Don lovingly tended the rose garden at the Father Margil statue on the grounds of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A plaque in Don’s honor was placed by Council 7553 in the rose garden in 2022.
Donald Edward McCarley of Nacogdoches passed away February 12, 2021, in Nacogdoches at the age of 82. He was born September 2, 1938, in Beaumont to parents Louis Nelson McCarley and Mary Lima (Johnson) McCarley. Don graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas. He was a 22-year veteran with The United States Air Force. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches He was also a long-serving member of the Board of Directors for Heartbeat Pregnancy Center. Don’s hobbies included woodworking and gardening.
