ROBERT CRADDOCK OBITUARY
Robert A. Craddock, 79, of Strawn passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at a local hospital.
Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Catholic Church. Interment: will follow in Mount Marion Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn. Rosary: 7 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn.
Robert was born on April 17, 1928, to Johnie Robert and Jennie Anderson Craddock in Strawn, where he was raised and graduated from high school. He went into the United States Air Force, serving as a staff sergeant from 1946 to 1949 and from 1950 to 1951. He worked for East Texas Motor Freight as a rate clerk for 38 years.
Robert married Johnnie Marie Gallina on Aug. 14, 1971, in Dallas and she preceded him in death on Oct. 27, 1994. Robert lived in Dallas for 28 years and then in Fayetteville, Ark. for 10 years and Fort Smith Arkansas, until retiring back to Strawn.
Robert was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Strawn Lions Club, International Brothers of Teamsters and Retired Teamsters Association, St. John Catholic Men’s Club and St. John’s Catholic Church. He helped with Strawn Meals on Wheels and was president of the Mount Marion Cemetery Association.
Robert was well known for his giving spirit and kindness, always willing to help those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Fred Craddock; and stepbrother, William C. Cutberth.
Survivors: His sister, Annette Harris of Strawn; stepbrother, Harland Bayne of California; stepsister, Shirley Pierce of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
