Gerald C. "Jerry" Burkey 69 of Carmel, died Saturday, June 7, 2008. He was born on April 1, 1939 in Queens, NY, to the late Anton and Nell Burkey. Jerry was a 1960 graduate of St. John's University. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He began his career as a pharmacist with Super X Drugstores and Bindley Western, retiring in 1999. Jerry was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Carmel, where he was very active in many ministries, including the bereavement ministry, and the Knights of Columbus #12387. He is survived by his children, Diane Jourdan, Mary Beth Burkey, Tim Burkey and Karen Heraty; brother, Anton Burkey and grandchildren, Anthony, Eileen, and Kate. In 2000, Jerry's wife of 38 years, Eileen C. Burkey preceded him in death. |
