Founding An Assembly

The Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Assembly 3046 was chartered in 2007 at the Casey Service Club in Stowe, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  Calvert Province Master Arron Cubbage, PGK, PFN, PSD, met with area Fourth Degree Knights desirous of having a local assembly.  The Charter, dated 13 June 2007, and lists member councils as 1192, 1374, 3633, 6614, 10847, 13800 and 14090.  In 2008 the Assembly authorised a "home" relationship with "Casey Service", the home of Fr. Bally Council 1192.

According to the late Thomas Ludwig, whose memory of the history of Fr. Bally Council filled many an evening,

the requirement for membership in the Fourth Degree of the Order was that of "an outstanding Catholic gentleman"

and the first Fourth Degree member was SK Leonard Cain PGK FDD, almost 90 years ago.  After WWII when the economy

and lives began to stabilise and social advancement of Catholics was normal, men began to join Archbishop Ryan Assembly.

Needing a place distinct from the council (at that time, landless), they began meeting at the Brookside Country Club.

They had their own newsletter and even a "no raffle tickets here" rule.
