Kay D. DeNeal passed away at the age of 81 on February 9, 2016 in Las Vegas. He grew up in Fallon and later lived in Reno and Carson City. Kay was a Nevada Highway Patrolman for over 20 years and taught at the Stead Academy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 53 years, eventually serving as Grand Master for the State of Nevada. He began the tootsie roll drive for the Knights that eventually spread to all fifty states to support Special Olympics. Kay was one of the founders of the Catholic War Veterans in L.V. His wife of 58 years, Dona, passed away in 2015. He is survived by daughers, Kristin DeNeal and Kerrin (Brian) Nichols; sons, Kenton DeNeal and Kory (Annette) DeNeal; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brothers, Doren DeNeal of Fernley, Ronald (Maxine) Shane of Reno, and sister, Brenda (Ernie) Evangelista of Sparks.
