JOHN WELDON

 

John, 58, was a certified property manager and real estate agent with Long and Foster in Burke. He died of pancreatic cancer March 14, 2008 at Capital Hospice in Arlington. He lived in Clifton. Mr. Weldon was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and when he was 2, his family moved to the Washington area, settling in King George, Va., in 1961, where they operated a well-known general store, Weldon's Country Store. Mr. Weldon assisted his family throughout his teen years in running the family business and graduated from King George High School.
Mr. Weldon served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was discharge in 1969.

From the 1970s through 1993, Mr. Weldon held a variety of positions involving the planning and fiscal management of real estate. He was vice president and director of real estate management with Plaza Realty Investors in Arlington from 1987 through 1993. Starting in 1994, he began a career in real estate sales.

Mr. Weldon was a member of Long & Foster's gold team for top sales volume and the president's club. He was recognized by the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors as a multimillion top producer.

His affiliations included the Institute of Real Estate Management, the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

Mr. Weldon was an active member of the Knights of Columbus at Saint Clare's Parish in Clifton - Council 12963, the American Legion Post 10 in Manassas and the Fraternal Order of the Moose. He was a Washington Redskins fan.

His marriage to Christine Kaminski ended in divorce. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Patricia Weldon of Clifton; two children from his first marriage, Jessica and Matthew Weldon of Wilkes Barre, Pa.; three children from his second marriage, Amy, Aileen and Ashley Weldon, all of Clifton; four sisters; and a grandson.

The funeral Mass was held at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church with committal at Quantico National Cemetery.

Eternal Rest Grant onto John's soul, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May John’s soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.
