Addendum: John attended Baruch College after graduating from Brooklyn Prep, the Jesuit school in Brooklyn, and his experiences there gave him a life-long love and respect for the Society of Jesus and their system of Catholic education.
At one time he co-owned a coffee shop business in Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay area. He was a life-long, passionate fan of the NY Yankees, Football NY Giants and NY Rangers and at one time, when he was younger, played competitive ice hockey. He was a collector of sports memorabilia, especially curious about so many topics and was quite at home with academic, as well as practical issues. John's special area of interest was history and was considered somewhat of an expert on the Civil War and particularly the Battle of Gettysburg. His views on that war were insightful and interesting. His amazing engagement with that conflict took him and his wife Jean often to Gettysburg and other Civil War sites.
John attained what he considered to be a true return to the Catholic Church and re-conversion under the auspices of the Precious Blood Priests, particularly Fr. Bill Walter and Fr. Ron Will, and he died as an absolute believer of the power and divinity of Jesus Christ and as a loyal son of Holy Mother church and in the glorious afterlife which he never doubted exists, even when his suffering was greatest and his pain so hurtful.
