Kevin Francis Butler, 62 of Chesapeake, VA died March 8, 2015. Born in Park Forest, IL, he was the son Millicent Haberman Butler and the late Henry Francis Butler.
Mr. Butler was a 1974 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He retired as a Commander from the U.S. Navy in 1994 after 20 years of service. He attended St. Stephen's Martyr Catholic Church and was a past Grand Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Kevin was currently a federal employee working on the U.S. Joint Staff J7, Suffolk, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his daughter and son in law, Whitney Butler and David Dunlap. Survivors include his wife Marie Mims Butler, his mother Millicent (Penny) Butler of Greensboro, NC, two sons, Christian Butler and his wife Rebecca Peebles of Denver, CO, Collin Butler of Chesapeake, a sister, Lori Carey, her husband Paul and their children of Charleston, SC, and a brother Keith Butler, his wife Anne and their children of Charlotte, NC.
A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday March 13, 2015 at St. Stephen's Martyr Catholic Church by Father Brian Rafferty. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. at 1416 Cedar Road, Chesapeake on Thursday (3/12) evening from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
