SK Manny Joia Jr.
The Knights of Columbus has lost a great Brother. On Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 5:05 PM, SK Manny took his last breath.
He was surrounded by his son, Michael, daughter, Michele and grandson, Julian, and me.
He has served the Brotherhood diligently and spiritually since his made his 1st degree on August 1, 1967. He joined the 4th degree on February 18, 2006. He has 58 years with the Knights.
He was a Grand Knight, Trustee and Lecturer for the council. He was a Faithful Navigator, Admiral, Color Corps Commander and of course District Deputy.
He was my mentor as I took over for him as District Deputy. He helped me be the best District Deputy I could be. Also, he was my friend and my older Brother. Ever since he had the bowel obstruction in October of 2023. I was there visiting him. Since August 4, 2025, I would see him, 2 to 3 times a week and when he was transferred down the hill, I would see him every Sunday after mass. He never fully recovered from the bowel obstruction.
His suffering his finally over. Since August 4, 2025, he was not able to eat solid food. There were a few days he could only eat pureed food. Towards the end, he couldn't even drink water or have ice chips. He was kept alive with a feeding tube and IV.
I prayed the Blessed Michael McGivney prayer to him and the rosary for him in his room.
Brother Manny will be missed, and the Knights of Columbus has lost a great Brother and friend.
Please pray for the happy repose of his soul and his family. He had 2 nieces that loved him dearly and are heart broken. But we all know he is in a better place.
It's not goodbye but see you later Brother Manny!
Fraternally,
FN Jason
