2017 State Softball Tournament Entry

Brother Knights,

The Missouri State Knights of Columbus Softball Association and Harvester Council 9625, would again like to invite all councils to participate in the 49th annual state slow-pitch softball tournament.  The tournament will again be held at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex in O’Fallon, MO on Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th, 2017.

We will attempt to field 2 divisions this year:

• Open – Competitive


• Fraternal – Recreational. No age requirement.  Players from one or more councils may combine to form a team in this division, regardless of whether a player’s council has a team already entered. 

If fewer than six teams enter any division, competition in this division will not be held or divisions may be combined.  Those teams will be notified and given the opportunity to compete in the remaining division or will have the option of receiving a full refund.  This decision must be made before the drawing date. 

The entry fee is $200.00 per team, which covers all expenses including the cost of the fields and umpire fees.

Both divisions will use a three-game-guarantee bracket.  There will be no consolation bracket.  Teams from all divisions will be eligible to compete in the respective division of the national tournament.

Please plan on playing both Saturday and Sunday.  Although we will attempt to fit all games in on Saturday, this will be contingent on the number of entries and the weather.  No refunds, bye games or special arrangements will be made for teams that cannot commit to playing on Sunday if needed.

On Saturday morning, one hour prior to the first games at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex, a joint manager's meeting and State Softball Association meeting will be held to discuss the 2017 tournament activities, the selection of the site for the 2018 tournament, and election of officers for the coming year. The manager or a representative from each team must attend this meeting.

In addition, co-host St. Paul Council 6415 will hold a social gathering to kick off the festivities on the Friday evening before the tournament. Early check-in and bat checks will also be held.  St. Paul did a great job last year holding this event that included a washer tournament, barbecue and equipment raffle!  We encourage all to attend so they don’t miss out!

I will be resigning from the President’s position following this year’s tournament.  Please give some consideration into volunteering your time as Association President to help grow this annual tradition.

Any council interested in hosting the 2018 tournament should submit a bid signed by the Grand Knight prior to the manager's meeting on Saturday morning.  All councils are encouraged to bid on the tournament. 

Tournament entry forms and entry fees must be received by May 29, 2017.  If you know that your entry will not reach me by the drawing date, please email me.  Adding even one team to the bracket after the drawing has been completed requires rewriting the entire bracket.  Late entries will not be accepted unless a previously entered team withdraws or extenuating circumstances exist.

No refunds will be made after the drawing date of May 29, 2017, unless another team is available to replace the team requesting withdrawal.
