Consider celebrating Family Week by hosting a “Double-Feature

Family Film Night,” featuring the short film The Life and Legacy of

Father Michael J. McGivney followed by a full-length family movie. Be

sure to consult the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ movie

reviews and classifications available at usccb.org/media before selecting

the second movie. You should select several options and present them

to your pastor, asking him to choose the final one. Don’t forget to have

popcorn or other snacks for the families!

Other ways you might celebrate include:

• Leading a recitation of the rosary before a family picnic.

• Hosting a memorial Mass and First Degree exemplification in

honor of Father Michael J. McGivney on Aug. 12 or 14, the

anniversaries of Father McGivney’s birth and death.

• Hosting a family night at your council’s meeting place, welcoming

families to play games and socialize.

• Welcoming families to participate in a volunteer project, such as

cleaning up a park or helping your parish with outdoor maintenance.
