OUR FOUNDER'S FIRST FEAST DAY AUGUST 13, 2021

Mass Card and Prayers for Our Founder's First Feast Day

The celebration of the First Feast Day of Our Founder Blessed Michael McGivney took place on August 13, 2021 with Our State Chaplain Fr. Michael Darcy offering Mass at St. Matthew's Church. Our Worthy State Deputy Richard Johnson and others from the Delaware State Council then traveled to the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, DC to attend additional services and another Mass to honor Father McGivney.

Father McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus to provide spiritual support to men and offer financial resources for families that had suffered the loss of a breadwinner. If nothing else, this feast day shows that one determined Catholic can take actions that will make a difference in the lives of literally millions of people.  Blessed Michael McGivney serves as inspiration to all and his messages are still as relevant today as it was at the time of his death in 1890.  Pope Francis’ new encyclical Fratelli Tutti — which calls Catholics to decide whether to be “Good Samaritans or indifferent bystanders”.  This is essentially the same message Our Founder espoused over 120 years  ago.
