Dear Brother Knights.
I first met Mark Deaton a few years ago. I don't recall the exact date because it seems that I have known Mark for much longer than the actual calendar would indicate. Shortly after becoming the Field Agent for Council 10861, of which I serve as Chaplain, Mark set an appointment to meet with me regarding his role and how he could be of service.
I find Mark to be a man of prayer and service. His faith is his guiding principle in living out the four principles of the Knights of Columbus. When the Venerable Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, he did so, in large part, to provide assistance to the widows and children left behind when the breadwinner died. Mark has taken up Fr. McGivney's desire and works with each Knight in trying to achieve the way that particular Knight is able to care for his family beyond his physical presence on this earth.
Mark is patient in working with you and thus, makes it easy to find the right balance for each individual. I find Mark to be trustworthy. When we met and talked about some of my own accounts, he didn't try to have me reinvest those that were outside of the Knights of Columbus plans. That honesty of acknowledging the "good" indicated to me that Mark is not just a salesman looking for a commission. Rather, he is genuine in his concern for what is best for the individual and his family.
To sum up, Mark Deaton is knowledgeable, caring, and helpful. He is passionate about assisting members of the Knights of Columbus and their families in preparing for the future. I am further comforted in knowing that in a Knight's most desperate hour of need, he is there to accomplish the goal set forth by Fr. McGivney when he founded the Knights of Columbus.

Dear Brother Knights:
I first met Mark Deaton in May 2010. He attended our regular monthly meeting and was announced as our new Knights of Columbus Field Agent. He quickly revealed a keen insight into helping brother Knights address their insurance and financial needs. I asked him to visit with me regarding a Long Term Health Care policy. Mark sat down with my wife and me and patiently went over the various plans and options offered by the Knights of Columbus. He explained the benefits of long term coverage and how this coverage would interface with our existing health benefits plan. We were somewhat startled at the potentially huge out of pocket costs we might encounter if either of us suffered a catastrophic illness or injury. Mark helped us decide on an affordable plan that met our needs. He also reviewed our insurance coverage and offered advice regarding estate planning. his insight and caring approach to providing us with just what we wanted is deeply appreciated.
Annually, Mark meets with us to review our policies and discuss our insurance needs. I really appreciate the time he takes to inform us of the increased value of our portfolio and explain options available to minimize tax payments and increase the value of bequests included in our wills.
Mark Deaton is knowledgeable, caring, and helpful. He is passionate about assisting members of the Knights of Columbus and their families in preparing for the future. I am further comforted in knowing that in my wife's most desperate hour of need, he (or another KofC field agent) will be available to assist her.
