FIELD AGENT: Joseph Melancon, Nevada, FICF

     Joseph Melancon is a Knights of Columbus Field Agent with the Tuuri Agency, serving brother Knights and their families in Northern Nevada.  Joseph has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 14 years and became a Field Agent for the Order in April of 2010.

     When asked why he became a Field Agent, Joseph said, “I became a Field Agent in order to continue the Legacy of Fr. Michael McGivney, and to help my brother Knights protect their future and their families through our greatest Fraternal Benefit, our Insurance Program."

     Originally from Midland Texas, Joseph graduated Summa Cum Laud with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.  He has earned both the FIC (Fraternal Insurance Counsellor) and FICF, (Fraternal Insurance Counsellor Fellow) designations, and is currently enrolled in the American College of Financial Services for certification as an FSCP (Financial Services Certified Professional).

     Prior to becoming a Field Agent with the Knights of Columbus, Joseph enjoyed a 17-year career as a Case Manager for the State of Nevada, Washoe County and several nonprofit organizations.

     Joseph is married to his wife Kelly Jeanne, who is a full-time homemaker.  They have six children, Brittany (31), Shoshanah (24), Kateri (17), Matthew (15), Kelly Jane (12), and Michael (10).  They also have three grandchildren, Sevrin (12), Riah (7) and Layla (1).

     The Melancon family are parishioners of St. Patrick’s Parish in Fallon for the past 26 years.  Joe has been active in the church as a catechist for grades two through confirmation, as a music minister and lector, Eucharistic minister, and in prison ministry and visiting the elderly in nursing homes.  Joseph is a member of St. Patrick’s Council #4828.

     When asked what he hopes to achieve for his members, Joseph said, “I am able to provide a comprehensive financial and insurance needs analysis at no cost for all of my members.  Through this process, I can help them identify solutions and attain their financial goals while remaining true to their Catholic beliefs.  Over the past ten years, I have been able to help hundreds of Knights and their families protect what is most important to them and prepare for their children’s college education and for their retirement.  I am proud and happy to help my members achieve financial peace of mind.”
