Grand Knights Message
August 2019

Happy summer my Brothers.

Was a bit hectic a few weeks back with our decision to postpone the clambake we were having to raise funds for the Ultrasound Initiative. Unfortunately the heat was just going to be too intense for all concerned. Good news is we are looking to reschedule the event, albeit with some slight modifications, to Sunday September 22nd. Time and place (Elks Lodge) remain the same. Stay tuned for more details.

Also in line with us raising funds for the Ultrasounds we have received a very generous challenge from our Worthy Chaplain and Pastor, Father Gill. He has offered to match (personally) up to $2,500 in donations from us, Brother Knights for this initiative. There are a few stipulations, we need at least 25 Knights from our council to donate at least $100 each and the offer is only good till Aug. 31st. The officers agreed that we should accept this challenge and feel confident that we can reach that goal. A committee is forming to reach out to all the members but if you would like to contact Tom or myself first to donate then our info is: Email - elestrange@comcast.net  or  tomhealy57@hotmail.com.  Or call me at 914-629-4184 or Tom at 845-490-8799.

The visiting members committee put together a second visit to John Delbono’s and it was a great time, thanks to all who attended and to Bruce and John Taylor for putting together. Below are plans for the next visit to another brothers house, please try and attend.

Thank you to the brother Knights (Bruce Colombraro, Pete Sangalli, John Murphy and Ed McEnaney) who helped to make closets for parishioner James Malaguit, James is a quadriplegic and the closets helped to make things easier for him and is family.

Congrats to our newest Brothers, We had 3 guys make their 1st and 2nd (Frank Meyer, Greg Rabito and Mike Tarr) and then Frank, Mike and Rob O’Donnell made their third the following week. If you see them around please congratulate and welcome them.

Lastly, since we have no social meetings in the summer we have decided to have dinner prior to next Monday’s business meeting in our chambers. We will be barbequing and food and drinks will be served at 7:15, meeting starts at 8pm – hope to see ya there.

ADORATION OF THE
BLESSED SACRAMENT

Meet with Jesus face to face.
Aside from Mass, this will be the best hour of each and every week.

The goal of reaching Perpetual Adoration in our Divine Mercy Chapel is well within reach. There are still a few spots to fill and then there will be Adoration 24/7/365.

Please contact Paul Lavelle for the hour of your choice 914-318-8523 or pgl515@comcast.net

The prayers and thoughts you offer up in that hour can and do make a big difference.
We all know people in need of prayers, maybe even yourself.

It is also a time to quite your mind and hear what He has to say to you.
Especially when you listen with your heart.

MEN'S MINISTRY
Don't forget to take advantage of the St Lawrence Men's Ministry gathering every Saturday morning, right here in the Large Conference Room of the Parish Center.

We meet from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Nice and early to start your day off right. And you still have plenty of time for your regular Saturday activities.

We begin with bagels and coffee, have a short presentation (~20 minutes), some great table discussion, and end with a prayer.

It's a wonderful way to keep you recharged in your faith and to help deal with the day to day distractions and pressures.
