Welcome Seminarian Nathaniel Hatch

The St. Barbara Knights have been supporting seminarians through the RSVProgram for a while. We have just been assigned a new seminarian.

A note from Nathan;

"I feel extreme gratitude for the opportunity to pursue the vocation that I believe God is asking me to live. I have long considered the priesthood and prayed that God would reveal to me His will for my life. I arrived at a point in my life where I could earnestly see (to the best of my ability) the beautiful aspects of both the married and priestly lives and their difficulties. However, when I considered the priesthood there was no definitive "call" that I could discern. That changed in the summer of 2018. Many have asked if I heard a voice and the answer is no. The best way I can explain it is as a movement of the heart. I knew in a moment that God wanted me to be His priest and after that moment that feeling only grew within me. I wish I could say that I had the faith to respond immediately to such a gift, but that wasn't the case. After a few weeks I began to be afraid of what pursuing this vocation would entail. That fear kept me from making the next steps toward priesthood. I spent the next year running from that "call" and trying to convince God that he picked the wrong man. As a wonderful Catholic mother once told me "Nathan, you can run from the Lord all you want, but if He wants you, He's going to get you". And after a year of running I grew tired, but the Lord did not. Since then I have entrusted everything to Him. All my fears and hopes are in His hands and He has showered me with blessings and consolations, to which your support plays no small role, by showing me the love He had in store for me, within the hearts of His faithful. Thank you again, please pray for me and be assured of my prayers.”

The St. Barbara Knights of Columbus had an apple sale fundraiser for our Coats for Kids Program. Thanks to very generous donations from parishioners we were able to purchase 7 cases of coats. Another 7 cases were given to our council from Knights of Columbus Supreme. All 14 cases were given to POM, Plateau Outreach Ministries, in Enumclaw, Washington. POM distributes all the coats to kids in need of warm jackets for the winter season. Normally the Knights are able to help with distributing the coats, but again this year, due to COVID restrictions we are unable to help. Many thanks to POM and our parishioners for making this program a huge success.
