LOUIS (LOU) J MASTRODDI

 


Louis J. Mastroddi, resident of Gibbsboro, NJ, formerly of New Castle, PA, passed away on August 18, 2018 in Atlantic City, NJ at the age of 71 years old.

Louis was born to Louis W. and Pauline Nucci Mastroddi on August 26, 1946 in New Castle, PA. He graduated from New Castle Senior High School. He attended Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University where he earned a Bachelor degree in music. He received his Master’s degree at Westminster College majoring in elementary and secondary administration. He started his music teaching career in Linesville, PA and McDonald, OH. He returned to New Castle, PA in 1972 where he finished his teaching career as an elementary vocal and instrumental music teacher.

Music was not only his career, but also his passion. Louis taught private music lessons at Music Showcase. He was also a church organist for St. Vitus, St. John’s Maronite, and Christ the King Parishes. For many decades, Louis played the clarinet in the St. Margherita Blue Coat Band. He also played for the Lowellville and Red Coat Bands. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he was a past president of the St. Vitus Holy Name Society. For 28 years Louis and his brother-in-law Joe operated M&T Tours, sponsoring trips to concerts, Washington, DC, New York City, and many other destinations. For the past ten years, Louis has enjoyed spending vacations with his family at the beach in Ocean City, NJ.

In 1973 Louis married Victoria DiCarlo. They have been happily married for the past 44 years. They have two daughters, Leslie (Tim) Tallman and Diana (Josh) Killian. Louis is the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Andrew, Ellie Rose, Natalie, and Sadie Tallman. He had a very close relationship with his sister and brother-in–law, Mary Ann and Joe Thomas. Louis was the loving uncle to Maribeth Thomas and Calle and Peter (PJ) Affagato.

In addition to his wife Vikki, he is survived by his daughters Leslie (Tim) Tallman of Voorhees, NJ and Diana (Josh) Killian of East Petersburg, PA. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ann (Joseph E) Thomas and his sister-in-law Maripat (Randy) Affagato.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Pauline Nucci Mastroddi, his maternal grandparents, Nicola and Antonetta Perrotta Nucci, and his paternal grandparents, Louis and Mary DeMase Mastroddi.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory Inc 3000 Wilmington Road New Castle, PA 16105. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at St. Camillus Church, officiated by Father James Downs.

Burial will take place Gates of Heaven Cemetery in New Jersey.
