COUNCIL #5480 - WALTER POLLARD REMEMBERS
SK THOMAS FREDRICK STEIGELMAN JR.

SK Thomas Fredrick Steigelman Jr., PGK, FDD born to Tom and Ethelmae Steigelman on June 30, 1941 in Evanston Illinois. A devoted husband, father and Grandpa. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Mary Ann, he is survived by his son, Trey, daughter-in-law Judy; beloved grandson, Turner; brother, Joe and his wife, Helen; brother-in-law, Tom Seaborn and wife, Shirley; and his nieces and nephews. Tom attended VMI and Old Dominion University and retired from Newport News Shipyard as an Engineering Supervisor after 43 years of service. He was past Grand Knight and District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus. He served the community and parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel alongside his wife for many years. He loved traveling with Mary Ann on missions, as well as recreational trips, and loved being at their house on the Outer Banks with his family. Tom thought the sun rose and set in his grandson. He loved talking with him about science and animals, playing with and teaching him games, building Lego sets and anything else Turner wanted. He was the kindest of men and a sweet gentle soul who will be dearly missed. We take comfort in knowing that he is again with Mary Ann. Both shining examples of kindness and selfless service to others. The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 10 to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral mass following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Ministry, 100 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Va. 23601. Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
