It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Gérald Emile DeGagné on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Saskatoon City Hospital at the age of 68. Gérald was born on December 10, 1949 in Morris, MB to Aline (née Lauzé) and Louis DeGagné. Gérald will be remembered fondly by his loving wife of 44 years, Paulette (née Prytula); his daughter Renée (Kyle); his son Stephan (Shannon); his siblings Hubert (Deirdre), Marcel (Anita), Collette (Dennis), and Léo (Mariette); sister-in-law Margo; his beautiful granddaughters Abigail, Finley, Olivia and Zoey; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Gérald is predeceased by his father Louis, mother Aline, sister Louise, and brother Roger. Gérald loved working with his hands and was employed as a carpenter most of his life. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, cooking, and cheering on his favourite sports teams: the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. He was a devoted member of the 8279 Council of the Knights of Columbus, and dedicated countless hours to the Blackstrap Youth Camp. Most of all, Gérald was a loving father, committed husband, attentive grandfather, and friend to all. The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Transitional Care Unit at the Saskatoon City Hospital for the loving care and support they provided Gérald over the past few weeks. Funeral services for Gérald was held at St. Mary’s Parish in Saskatoon on Saturday, May 26 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gérald’s memory to the Saskatoon Knights of Columbus Blackstrap Youth Camp (Box 203, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 3K4). |
