COUNCIL #4691 - POPE PIUS XII REMEMBERS
DAVID B. SIMMONS

Irondequoit: David passed away suddenly on September 6, 2017, at the age of 63, while vacationing in Nevada. He is predeceased by his parents William & Erma Lou Simmons of Spencer, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jean M. Tydings, and their daughter, Elizabeth Simmons. David is also survived by his daughters Julie (Troy Barnes) and Amy of Ohio; his sister, Patty (Ron) Bailey of West Virginia; his brother Randy of Ohio; his grandsons Michael, Andrew, Jake & Luke; his faithful companion Rudy; and numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces, who loved him dearly.

David had relocated from Akron, OH to Rochester, NY in 2003 after retiring from the phone company, where he had worked for over 35 years. He was a devoted husband and father and always had multiple projects going around the house. He was an accomplished craftsman having created many beautiful pieces of furniture and decorations. Who will ever forget the unique Christmas displays in his yard?

He was an extraordinary athlete who excelled in bicycling and running and in fact competed in the World Duathlon Championships in Calais, France in 2000 as part of the U.S. National Team. He was a big fan of THE Ohio State University.

In recent years, although slowed by the ravages of Parkinson Disease, David continued to make the world a better place, be it through his work at St. Kateri Parish, his work with the Knights of Columbus, his work with the Parkinson Foundation, his work at local food shelters, the assistance he provided to family, friends and neighbors, his participation in the Irondequoit softball league and just by his mere presence. And he was always ready to share his stories, in his own humorous, inimitable style. He will be missed by all those who knew him. Rest in peace, our dear David.
