Reverend Monsignor Carl Edward House, retired, died on Holy Thursday, March 29, 2018. Monsignor House was born on March 29, 1947 in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was the son of Alonzo and Margaret. Monsignor House was ordained on May 3, 1975 by the Most Reverend Paul F. Reding and named Honorary Prelate to His Holiness Pope Benedict on April 15, 2013. He served in several parishes throughout the Diocese of Hamilton as Associate Pastor and also served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Monsignor House was appointed pastor of Mary Immaculate Parish, Chepstow in 1989, Holy Cross Parish, Georgetown in 1991, St Anthony Daniel Parish, Kitchener, 1994 and Rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton in 2001, Holy Rosary Parish, Burlington in 2013. The reception of the Body will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton, on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. followed by a viewing until 4:00 p.m. and visitation continuing from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Most Reverend Douglas Crosby, OMI will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Monsignor House is survived by his siblings, Catherine (Henry) Dilney, James (Mabel), Barbara, Mary, Caroline (Jack) Smith and Janet, sister-in-law Betty, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Predeceased by siblings William, Connie, Eleanor and Frank, sister-in-law Dorothy and brothers in-law Edward Terry, Joe MacPherson, Jack Cardno, Stan Double and Alvin Whitley. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. Donations in memory of Monsignor House may be made to the Ex Corde Foundation, Diocese of Hamilton
