FRANCIS JOSEPH PRYAL

 

Francis Joseph "Frank" Pryal, 80, formerly of Rockville, MD and Bethany Beach, DE, passed away due to complications associated with Parkinson's Disease on January 28, 2018 at Brightview Senior Living in Edgewater, MD. Born on January 11, 1938 in Queens, NY to the late Francis Aloysius Pryal, a New York City police officer and Anna Pope Pryal, a homemaker, Frank attended Power Memorial High School in Manhattan before the family relocated to Carbondale, PA, where he graduated from Saint Rose of Lima High School and earned bachelor and master degrees in accounting from The University of Scranton. In 1959 he wed Rosemary Munley. In 1964 Frank, Rosemary and their two young sons, Dave and Tom, moved to the Washington, D.C. area where Frank began a career in law enforcement as an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Frank was recognized for his outstanding service by Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. He served as a field and supervisory agent in Scranton, PA, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, MD and Miami, FL. During his career with the DEA, Frank traveled the world including South America and Asia. He retired in 1988 after a distinguished career and moved to Bethany Beach, DE where he was an active member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church and worked part time as Assistant Alderman for the town of Bethany Beach. Frank and Rosemary enjoyed traveling and were delighted to explore their family heritage in Ireland and attend Mass at the Vatican. They also enjoyed many winters with friends in Naples, FL but Frank's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Frank is survived by his wife, Rosemary Pryal; his sons, David Pryal and his wife, Geralyn of Bethesda, MD and Tom Pryal and his wife, Helen of Annapolis, MD; his grandchildren, Tommy, Patrick, Mary Helen, Marra, Deirdre and Rory; his brother, David Pryal and his wife, Jeanne of Estero, FL; his sisters, Ann Grovich and her husband, Richard and Betty McKelvey all of Sugarloaf, PA; his brother-in-law, Neil Gallagher of Bethesda, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Miriam Gallagher. Friends are invited to celebrate Frank's life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Friday, February 2 from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD on Saturday, February 3 at 10:30 AM. Private interment will be at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation at www.Parkinson.org.
