Obituary for Milfred "Bud" Manning
Milfred “Bud” Manning, age 77 of DePere, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018. He was born in De Pere on May 20, 1940 to the late Milfred and Ora (Leininger) Manning. On February 11, 1961, he married Margaret Cantwell at Annunciation Parish in Green Bay. Bud was a welder by trade, working for Northwest Engineering and MegTec. He also worked for Schroeder’s Flowers for a while and after his retirement in 2003, became a crossing guard for the De Pere Police Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Abbots Penning Counsel #3955. Bud enjoyed spending time up north, deer hunting, planting his garden and baking for his family. He enjoyed the time spent with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his loving wife of 57 years.

Bud is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Manning, children; Maureen (Larry) Kroening, Joan (Mark) Halstead, and Karen (Scott) Cieslewicz, daughter in law, Maureen Manning, grandchildren; Kathy Thyssen, Clifford (Kristi) Thyssen, Ben (Fiancé Amanda) Manning, Nick Manning, Elise Manning, Isaac Manning, Max Cieslewicz and Sam Cieslewicz, five great grandchildren; Noel, Jonathan, Sophie, Ella and Leah. He is further survived by his brother, John Manning and sister, Peggy Vanden Hoogen, brothers in law; Jim (Phyliss) Cantwell and Patrick Cantwell as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Tom.

Family and friends may call at from 4pm to 7pm, on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave. De Pere, with a prayer service being held at 6:30pm, Friday. Visitation will be held again from 9am to 10:45am, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview. A funeral mass for Bud will begin at 11am with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial will take place at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family, online condolences can be made at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the De Pere Rescue Squad, St. Vincent Hospital ER and 7th Floor Staff and Unity Hospice for the care and compassion given to Bud.
